Derbyshire County Cricket Club in 1909 was the cricket season when the English club Derbyshire had been playing for 38 years. It was their fifteenth season in the County Championship and they won two matches to finish fifteenth in the Championship table. 1909 season Derbyshire played twenty two matches in the County Championship and one against the touring Australians. They won two matches, both in the championship and drew four. Reginald Rickman was in his second season as captain. Samuel Cadman scored most runs and Arnold Warren took most wickets. Joseph Bowden made his debut in the season and went on to become a regular until 1930. John Chapman, who was captain before and after the war, also played his first season for the club. This is a list of seasons played by Derbyshire County Cricket Club in English cricket, from the club's formation in 1870. Early years 1871–1887 Derbyshire played their first matches in 1871. For the first three years their only opponents were Lancashire. When Kent joined in 1874, by a quirk of scoring which was based on games lost, they were County Champion. The club was bedevilled by financial problems, and in 1888 the sporting press decided no longer to accord them first class status. Wilderness years 1888–1893 From 1888 Derbyshire's matches were not accorded first class status. Stanley Dickinson
Stanley Patrick Dickinson (7 March 1890 — 25 June 1972) was an English cricketer who played for Derbyshire in 1909. Dickinson was born in Norton, Derbyshire and educated at Haileybury College where he was in the cricket XI in 1906 and 1907. He made two appearances for Derbyshire during the 1909 season, his first coming in an innings defeat at the hands of Yorkshire and his second in a draw against Warwickshire. Dickinson was a right-handed batsman and scored 13 runs overall. He was a right-arm medium-fast bowler and took one wicket. Dickinson died at Dolbenmaen, near Criccieth Criccieth ( cy, Criccieth ) is a town and community on the LlÅ·n Peninsula in the Eifionydd area of Gwynedd in Wales. Northamptonshire County Cricket Club is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Northamptonshire. Its limited overs team is called the Northants Steelbacks – a reference to the Northamptonshire Regiment which was formed in 1881. The name was supposedly a tribute to the soldiers' apparent indifference to the harsh discipline imposed by their officers. Hampshire County Cricket Club is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Hampshire. Hampshire teams formed by earlier organisations, principally the Hambledon Club, always had first-class status and the same applied to the county club when it was founded in 1863. Because of poor performances for several seasons until 1885, Hampshire then lost its status for nine seasons until it was invited into the County Championship in 1895, since when the team have played in every top-level domestic cricket competition in England. Arthur Morton (cricketer, Born 1883)
Arthur Morton (7 May 1883 – 18 December 1935) was an English cricketer who played first-class cricket for Derbyshire and Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) between 1903 and 1926. He made over 10,000 runs and took nearly 1,000 wickets. Morton was born at Mellor, Derbyshire. He made his debut for Derbyshire in May 1903 against MCC when he was out for a duck in both innings and took the only wicket in the second innings before MCC won. He played six matches in 1903 taking a total of 3 wickets with a top score of 22. However, in 1904 he played 17 matches, but only took six wickets and made a top score of 56. In 1905 his bowling picked up and he started to improve his run total, but it was 1907 before he managed his first 5 wicket innings. He managed another 5 wicket innings in 1908 but in 1909 took five 5-wicket innings with a best performance of 6–38.
