Der Ring In Minden
''Der Ring in Minden'' was a project to stage Richard Wagner's cycle ''Der Ring des Nibelungen'' at the Stadttheater Minden, beginning in 2015 with ''Das Rheingold'', followed by the other parts in the succeeding years, and culminating with the complete cycle performed twice in 2019. The stage director was Gerd Heinz, and Frank Beermann conducted the Nordwestdeutsche Philharmonie, playing on the stage of the small theatre. The singers acted in front of the orchestra, making an intimate approach to the dramatic situations possible. The project received international recognition and was compared favourably to the Bayreuth Festival. Tannhäuser (opera)
''Tannhäuser'' (; full title , "Tannhäuser and the Minnesängers' Contest at Wartburg") is an 1845 opera in three acts, with music and text by Richard Wagner ( WWV 70 in the catalogue of the composer's works). It is based on two German legends: Tannhäuser, the mythologized medieval German Minnesänger and poet, and the tale of the Wartburg Song Contest. The story centres on the struggle between sacred and profane love, as well as redemption through love, a theme running through most of Wagner's work. The opera remains a staple of major opera house repertoire in the 21st century. Composition history Sources The libretto of ''Tannhäuser'' combines mythological elements characteristic of German ''Romantische Oper'' (Romantic opera) and the medieval setting typical of many French Grand Operas. Heiko Trinsinger
Heiko Trinsinger is a German operatic baritone. A member of the Aalto Theatre in Essen, he has performed leading roles at major houses, such as Mozart's Papageno and Wagner's Alberich. Life and career From 1979 to 1987, Trinsinger was a member of the Dresdner Kreuzchor. He studied voice at the Musikhochschule Dresden and took several master classes. Trinsinger was first engaged at the studio of the Bavarian State Opera, then at the Theater Würzburg. He appeared there as Papageno in Mozart's ''Die Zauberflöte'' alongside Diana Damrau, who first sang Pamina and then the Queen of the Night. Trinsinger has been a member of the Aalto Theatre in Essen since 1999, where he appeared in roles such as Amonasro in Verdi's ''Aida''. Belcanto
Bel canto (Italian for "beautiful singing" or "beautiful song", )—with several similar constructions (''bellezze del canto'', ''bell'arte del canto'')—is a term with several meanings that relate to Italian singing. The phrase was not associated with a "school" of singing until the middle of the 19th century, when writers in the early 1860s used it nostalgically to describe a manner of singing that had begun to wane around 1830. Elisabeth Eleonore Büning (née Bauer; born 2 January 1952) is a German music journalist and writer, known for her opera reviews in the ''Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung''. Early life and education Elisabeth Eleonore Bauer was born in Frankfurt am Main and raised in Bonn. She attended the Elly-Heuss-Knapp-Gymnasium, where she graduated in 1970. She took up studies in music, theatre and literature at the Free University of Berlin. She completed several internships for music therapy at the University Hospital of the Medizinische Hochschule Hannover and gave music lessons. Writing career Since 1978, Büning has written essays for music journals. In 1989, she put forward a dissertation titled ''A. B. Tankred Dorst (19 December 1925 – 1 June 2017) was a German playwright and storyteller. Dorst lived and worked in Munich. His farces, parables, one-act-plays and adaptations were inspired by the theatre of the absurd and the works of Ionesco, Giraudoux and Beckett. His monumental drama ''Merlin oder das wüste Land'', which was premiered in 1981 in Düsseldorf, has been compared to Goethe's ''Faust''. Some critics see it as the first major drama of the 1980s. The Kissinger Sommer is a classical music festival held every year in the summer in the city of Bad Kissingen in Bavaria, Southern Germany. History The festival was founded in 1986. At the beginning the focus of the festival was on the improvement of the cultural relations between eastern and western Europe. Every year an east-european country was partner of the festival, beginning with Hungary in 1986. Poland, Czechoslovakia and the Soviet Union followed.
