''Department Store'' (Italian:''I grandi magazzini'') is a 1939 Italian " white-telephones" comedy film directed by Mario Camerini. It was made at the Cinecittà studios in Rome. The film entered the competition at the 7th Venice International Film Festival. Mario Camerini
Mario Camerini (6 February 1895 – 4 February 1981) was an Italian film director and screenwriter. The cousin of Augusto Genina, he made the most well-known films in Italy during the 1930s, most of them comedies starring Vittorio De Sica. He directed about 50 films till 1972, including Ulysses (1954 film), ''Ulysses'' with American stars Kirk Douglas and Anthony Quinn, one of the first Europe/U.S.A. film coproductions. He died in 1981 in Gardone Riviera, Gardone Rivera, Italy. The "7th" annual (void) Venice International Film Festival was held from 8 August to 1 September 1939. Dino De Laurentiis
Agostino "Dino" De Laurentiis (; 8 August 1919 – 10 November 2010) was an Italian-American film producer. Along with Carlo Ponti, he was one of the producers who brought Italian cinema to the international scene at the end of World War II. He produced or co-produced more than 500 films, of which 38 were nominated for Academy Awards. He also had a brief acting career in the late 1930s and early 1940s. Early life De Laurentiis was born at Torre Annunziata in the province of Naples, and grew up selling spaghetti made by his father's pasta factory. He studied at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Rome in 1937 and 1938, when his studies were interrupted by the outbreak of World War II. Nino Crisman (1911–1983) was an Italian actor and film producer. Crisman was born in the port city of Trieste when it was still a part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Andrea Checchi (21 October 1916 – 29 March 1974) was a prolific Italian film actor. Luisella Beghi
Luisella Beghi (1922–2006) was an Italian actress and voice actress. Biography Born in Parma, at very young age Beghi moved to Rome where she was one of the first female students of the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia. Graduated in 1938, Beghi almost immediately debuted on the big screen but her first roles were small and even insignificant.
