Dennis Avery O'Brien III (born February 9, 1973, in Laurinburg, NC) is an American columnist, journalist and radio commentator. He has risen to cult fame status through his numerous internet columns about college football and college athletics. He is a Harris Interactive College Football Poll voter and is featured primarily as a columnist on bonesville.net. O'Brien is a contributor and one time editor of "The Pirates' Chest", which is the official magazine of East Carolina University athletics, a monthly publication that is distributed to all members of the ECU Pirate Club. O'Brien also has penned freelance articles for East Magazine and the ACC Area Sports Journal. Laurinburg, NC
Laurinburg is a city in and the county seat of Scotland County, North Carolina, United States. Located in southern North Carolina near the South Carolina border, Laurinburg is southwest of Fayetteville and is home to St. Andrews University. The Laurinburg Institute, a historically African-American school, is also located in Laurinburg. The population at the 2010 Census was 15,962 people. Harris Interactive College Football Poll
The Harris Interactive College Football Poll was a weekly ranking of the top 25 NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision college football teams. The rankings were compiled by Harris Interactive, a market research company that specializes in Internet research. The poll was created in the summer of 2005 to replace the AP Poll in the BCS formula. The AP had decided it no longer wanted to be a part of the formula used by the BCS rankings to determine who plays in the BCS National Championship Game. Unlike the other two seasonal polls, the AP Poll and the Coaches Poll, the Harris Poll did not release a preseason poll; in fact, it did not come out until the last half of October, several weeks into the season. WKIX (850 kHz) is an AM radio station with an oldies format. Licensed to Raleigh, North Carolina, United States, the station serves the Research Triangle area. WTIB (103.7 FM) is a radio station in Eastern North Carolina that airs a talk format. WTIB is licensed in Williamston, North Carolina. History The station signed on in the late 60s or early 70s as WIAM-FM running a Top 40 format and simulcasting with then sister station WIAM (AM). WIAM-FM became WSEC, then WKKE "Key 103.7", owned by Mega Media. Seacomm bought the station and changed it to WHTE "Hot 104", also moving the station to Greenville. Gray Communications bought WHTE and changed it to Contemporary Christian using the CBN Network format. In 1991 WHTE began simulcasting with 95.9, switching to CHR as The Hot FM.
