Denmark In The Eurovision Song Contest 2001
Denmark participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2001 with the song "Never Ever Let You Go" written by Søren Poppe, Stefan Nielsen and Thomas Brekling. The song was performed by the duo Rollo and King. In addition to participating in the contest, the Danish broadcaster DR also hosted the Eurovision Song Contest after winning the competition in 2000 with the song "Fly on the Wings of Love" performed by the Olsen Brothers. DR organised the national final ''Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2001'' in order to select the Danish entry for the 2001 contest in Copenhagen. Ten songs competed in a televised show where "Der står et billede af dig på mit bord" performed by Rollo and King was the winner as decided upon through two rounds of jury voting and public voting. The song was later translated from Danish to English for the Eurovision Song Contest and was titled "Never Ever Let You Go". Rollo & King
Rollo & King was a Denmark, Danish group, formed by Søren Poppe and Stefan Nielsen (musician), Stefan Nielsen, who represented Denmark in the Eurovision Song Contest 2001. The two men named themselves after two dog names. They topped the charts with their first album ''Midt i en løbetid'' which stayed in the charts for 13 weeks in 2000–2001. Before Søren Poppe got famous with the band, he was a teacher in a school in Valby, in Copenhagen teaching music and mathematics. Eurovision Danmarks Radio invited them to enter the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix in 2001. They won with their song ''Der står et billede af dig på mit bord'' (literal translation, "There's a picture of you on my desk"). Together with female singer, Signe Svendsen, who had joined the group, they performed the song (translated into English as "Never Ever Let You Go") at the Eurovision Song Contest 2001 and received 177 points ranked second out of 23 entries. The Eurovision Song Contest 1987 was the 32nd edition of the annual Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in Brussels, Belgium, following the country's victory at the with the song "J'aime la vie" by Sandra Kim. The Eurovision Song Contest 1980 was the 25th edition of the annual Eurovision Song Contest. Lise Cabble (born 10 January 1958, in Amager) is a Danish singer and songwriter. Cabble has written more than ten songs for Dansk Melodi Grand Prix and Eurovision Song Contest performers. Johnny Hansen (musician)
Johnny Hansen (born 25 July 1965) is a Danish singer and musician, most famous as vocalist and guitarist of dansband Kandis. In addition to his career in Kandis, he has also released his own materials including four albums. In 1983, at age 18, he joined the band Airport that split up in 1988. With Jens Erik Jensen, a fellow musician, he formed the duo Jens Erik and Torben. With bassist Jørgen Hein Jørgensen joining later, the duo became a band renamed as Kandis. He also took part in 2001 in Dansk Melodi Grand Prix with the song "Lidt efter lidt" in a bid to represent Denmark in Eurovision Song Contest 2001. It was co-written by him and Nanna Kalinka Bjerke. ''Anita Lerche'' ( pa, ਅਨੀਤਾ ਲਿਆਕੇ) is a singer-songwriter, composer and actress from Denmark. Denmark entered the Eurovision Song Contest 1992 with "Alt det som ingen ser", sung by Lotte Nilsson and Kenny Lübcke after they won the Danish national final, Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 1992.
