The Democratic People's Party ( tr, Demokratik Halk Partisi) was a conservative political party in Northern Cyprus. National Unity Party (Northern Cyprus)
The National Unity Party ( tr, Ulusal Birlik Partisi, UBP) is a national conservatism, national-conservative List of political parties in Northern Cyprus, political party in Northern Cyprus. It was founded by Rauf Denktaş on 11 October 1975. The party was in power from its creation until the 2003 elections with the exception of the period from 1994–1996. Nejat Konuk
Osman Nejat Konuk (1928 – 31 December 2014) was a 2nd prime minister of Northern Cyprus, He held this office twice, once from 1976 to 1978 and a second time from 1983 to 1985. Early life, career and death Born in 1928 in Nicosia, Cyprus, Osman Nejat Konuk completed his primary and secondary education in Nicosia. In 1951, he graduated with a degree in Law from the Ankara Faculty of Law, Turkey. Following his graduation he worked in Turkey in the public sector as legal advisor (Bursa Forestry Department. He left public service in 1955 and worked as an independent lawyer until 1960. In 1960 he returned to Cyprus and assumed the role of General Secretary at the newly formed Turkish Community Parliament in Cyprus (Türk Cemaat Meclisi), followed by a role as the Undersecretary to the Turkish Cypriot Leader. The Assembly of the Republic ( tr, Cumhuriyet Meclisi) is the parliament of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. It has 50 members, elected for a five-year term by mitigated proportional representation. A party must cross the electoral threshold (5% of the total vote) to be awarded any seats. The parliament is composed of 50 MPs, chosen from six electoral districts, which are coterminous with the districts of Northern Cyprus: Lefkoşa, Gazimağusa, Girne, Güzelyurt, Lefke and İskele. In Northern Cyprus parliamentary elections, voters vote for individual candidates.
