The Democratic Party is a Centre-left politics, center-left political parties in the United States, political party in the United States. ''Democrat Party'' is an epithet and pejorative for the Democratic Party of the United States, often used in a disparaging fashion by the party's opponents. While use of the term started out as non-hostile, it has grown in its negative use since the 1940s, in particular by members of the Republican Party—in party platforms, partisan speeches, and press releases—as well as by conservative commentators and third party politicians. Modern usage United Press International reported in August 1984 that the term ''Democrat Party'' had been employed "in recent years by some right-wing Republicans" because the party's ''Democratic'' name implied that the Democrats were "the only true adherents of democracy". Language expert Roy Copperud said it was used by Republicans who disliked the implication that ''Democratic Party'' implied to listeners that Democrats "are somehow the anointed custodians of the concept of democracy". The Democratic Party (, , sometimes abbreviated to PD) is a centre to centre-right nationalist political party in Indonesia. Currently, it holds 44 seats in the House of Representatives (DPR). It is led by Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), the son of Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), who served as the President of Indonesia from 2004 to 2014. Founded in September 2001 as the political vehicle of SBY, the party gained its initial parliamentary representation following the 2004 legislative election, and SBY was elected as president. The Democrat Party (), abbreviated to DP, is a liberal conservative Turkish political party, established by in 1983 as the True Path Party ( or DYP). It succeeded the historical Democrat Party and the Justice Party, two parties with similar ideologies. Their sister party is the Good Party. The DYP is seen as a centre-right party. Iranian Democrat Party or Democrat Party of Iran (DPI; ) was a short-lived political party in Iran, founded in 1946 and led by Ahmad Qavam. It was the most important party formed by the old Qajar nobility, and an association of aristocrats and anti-British radical intellectuals. With the fall of Qavam, it disintegrated in 1948.
