''Defiance'' (Swedish: ''Trots'') is a 1952 Swedish drama film directed by Gustaf Molander and starring Anders Henrikson, Per Oscarsson, Harriet Andersson and Eva Dahlbeck.Qvist & Von Bagh p.121 It was shot at the Råsunda Studios in Stockholm and on location in Solna. The film's sets were designed by the art director Nils Svenwall. Synopsis A teacher imposes harsh discipline on his unruly son and the pupils in his class. Gustaf Molander
Gustaf Harald August Molander (18 November 1888 – 19 June 1973) was a Sweden, Swedish actor and film director. His parents were director Harald Molander, Sr. (1858–1900) and singer and actress Lydia Molander, ''née'' Wessler, and his brother was the director Olof Molander (1892–1966). He was the father of director and producer Harald Molander from his first marriage to actress Karin Molander and father to actor Jan Molander from his second marriage to Elsa Fahlberg (1892–1977). Gustaf Molander was born in Helsinki, Helsingfors (now Helsinki) in the Grand Duchy of Finland (in the Russian Empire), where his father was working at the Swedish Theatre. He studied in the school of the Royal Dramatic Theatre in Stockholm 1907–1909, acted at the Swedish theatre in Helsingfors 1909–1913, and then at the Royal Dramatic Theatre from 1913 to 1926. Hans Olov Lindgren (6 January 1932 - 2 November 2012) was a Swedish actor, screenwriter and film producer. Lindgren was born in 1932 in Österåker, north of Stockholm, Sweden. He had his acting debut as a 10-year-old in 1942 in ''Vårat gäng'' by Gunnar Skoglund and starred in more than 40 film and television productions including ''Rännstensungar'' (1944), ''Barnen från Frostmofjället'' (1945) (where he starred Ante), ''Svenska Floyd'' (1961), and '' Bombi Bitt och jag'' (1968). Jarl Kulle
Jarl Lage Kulle (28 February 1927 – 3 October 1997) was a Swedish film and stage actor and director, and father of Maria Kulle. Kulle was born in the village of Truedstorp, outside Ekeby, Bjuv, Ekeby, Sweden, and was the son of the merchant Nils Kulle and Mia Bergendahl. Kulle was one of the leading Swedish stage actors of his generation and often appeared in TV productions, at the Royal Dramatic Theatre of Stockholm as well as in a number of films, several of these directed by Ingmar Bergman. Järrel was one of the most popular actors in Sweden during his career, and also one of the most productive, participating in a total of 131 films. Hugo Björne (4 February 1886 – 14 February 1966) was a Swedish film and theater actor. Biography Ernst Hugo Alexis Björne was born in Varberg in Halland, Sweden. He made his stage debut in 1907 and belonged to the acting company of Hjalmar Selander until 1911 when he moved to the theater company of Einar Fröberg where he worked until 1914.
