"Deep and Meaningless" is a song by English indie rock band Rooster (band), Rooster. Written by vocalist Nick Atkinson, guitarist Luke Potashnick and production duo Espionage (production team), Espionage, it was produced by Steve Robson and featured on the band's 2005 Rooster (album), self-titled debut album. "Deep and Meaningless" was released as the fourth and final Single (music), single from the album on 11 July 2005, reaching number 29 on the UK Singles Chart. Release and reception After its inclusion on ''Rooster (album), Rooster'' in January 2005, "Deep and Meaningless" was released as a single on 11 July 2005. It was backed with a live recording of the Blackstreet song "No Diggity" recorded on the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge show on 29 April 2005. The single reached number 29 on the UK Singles Chart, which was the lowest position of all four singles from the album. Rooster (band)
Rooster were an English hard rock band from London. Formed in 2003, the group featured vocalist Nick Atkinson, guitarist Luke Potashnick, bassist Ben Smyth and drummer Dave Neale. Signed to Brightside Recordings, the band released their debut album ''Rooster'' in 2005. The group's second album '' Circles and Satellites'' followed in 2006, before the band broke up in 2007. Often considered a pop rock or teen pop band in a similar vein to Busted, Rooster were more influenced by hard rock acts such as Led Zeppelin and Cream. Atkinson and Potashnick led the majority of songwriting on the first album, with Smyth and Neale contributing more to the second. Live Lounge
The Live Lounge is a segment on the British radio stations BBC Radio 1 and BBC Radio 1Xtra. It was originally hosted by Simon Mayo, and later by Jo Whiley on her weekday mid-morning, and later weekend lunchtime radio shows, then by Fearne Cotton from 2009 until 2015, and then by Clara Amfo from May 2015 to August 2021. Since September 2021 the segment is now hosted by Rickie Haywood-Williams, Melvin Odoom and Charlie Hedges. It exhibits well-known artists usually performing one song of their own and one by another artist, in an acoustic format. The Live Lounge itself is also a physical room in the Radio 1 studios, from where some of the performances are broadcast; however, due to its size, many are done from the BBC Maida Vale Studios. William Harrison Withers Jr. (July 4, 1938 – March 30, 2020) was an American singer-songwriter and musician. He had several hits over a career spanning 18 years, including "Ain't No Sunshine" (1971), "Grandma's Hands" (1971), " Use Me" (1972), " Lean on Me" (1972), " Lovely Day" (1977) and "Just the Two of Us" (1981).
