George Mayers
George Samuel Mayers (1860–1952) was an Irish Anglican priest. He was educated at Trinity College, Dublin, ordained 1885 and began his ecclesiastical career with a curacy at Clonagam, Co. The Bishop of Cashel and Waterford (''Full title'': Bishop of Cashel and Emly with Waterford and Lismore) was the Ordinary of the Church of Ireland diocese of Cashel and Waterford; comprising all of County Waterford, the southern part of County Tipperary and a small part of County Limerick, Ireland. History In the Church of Ireland, although not in the Roman Catholic Church, the bishopric of Waterford and Lismore was united to the archbishopric of Cashel and Emly from 14 August 1833. On the death of Archbishop Laurence of Cashel in 1838, the Province of Cashel was united to the Province of Dublin. The see ceased to be an archbishopric becoming instead the bishopric of Cashel and Waterford. In 1977, the diocese was split; the former dioceses of Cashel, Waterford and Lismore merged with the "United Dioceses of Ossory, Ferns and Leighlin" to become the United Dioceses of Cashel and Ossory. Robert Miller (bishop)
Robert Miller (1866–1931) was a Church of Ireland bishop in the first half of the 20th century. Miller was educated at Trinity College, Dublin and ordained for Christ Church Derry in 1892. He was Rector of Donegal from 1894 to 1900. After a further incumbency at Raphoe he was Secretary of the Incorporated Society for Promoting Protestant Schools in Ireland until 1916. Maurice Day (Dean Of Waterford)
Maurice William Day (23 April 1858 – 29 August 1916) was an Irish Anglican priest in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He was the son of a clergyman ( His father was Bishop of Cashel, Emly, Waterford and Lismore from 1872 until 1899); and was educated at Repton School and Trinity College, Dublin. Ordained in 1882, after curacies at Queenstown and Waterford he held incumbencies at Newport, County Tipperary and then Kilbrogan, County Cork. In 1887 he married Katherine Louisa Frances Garfitt: they had one daughter and four sons, two of which were killed in the First World War, Lieut Maurice Charles Day(1891-1914) in East Africa and Capt. John Edward Day (1894 - 1917) in Flanders. 1900 he became Chaplain to the Bishop of Cashel and Waterford. Henry Hackett
Henry Monck Mason Hackett (1 March 1849-24 December 1933 ) was Dean of Waterford from 1903 until 1913. Hackett was educated at Trinity College, Dublin and ordained in 1875. After a curacy in Banbridge he was a CMS Missionary in Benares from 1877 to 1881; and was at Allahabad from 1881 to 1886. He was the Minister of Christ Church, Richmond, Surrey from 1886 to 1888; and of Christ Church, Hampstead from 1892 to 1894. He was Missionary -Principal of St Paul’s Divinity School, Allahabad from 1892 to 1896; and Principal of Montreal Diocesan Theological College from 1898 until his appointment as Dean. Edward Hoare (priest)
Edward Newenham Hoare (11 April 1802 – 1 February 1877), a graduate of Trinity College, Dublin was an Irish Anglican priest: he was Archdeacon of Ardfert from 1836 to 1839, then Dean of Achonry from 1839 to 1850; and Dean of Waterford from then until his death. Life He was the son of the Rev. John Hoare of Drishane and Rathkeale, and his wife Rachel Newenham, daughter of Edward Newenham, born in Limerick. As a recent graduate (1824) of Trinity College, Dublin, he was a curate in 1825 at Parwich and Alsop en le Dale in Derbyshire. In 1827 he was in Edgeworthstown, County Longford. Around 1830, Hoare was curate at St. John's, Limerick. He raised funds in England and Scotland, in 1834, to erect a church for the parish of St. Lawrence, allowing for the wishes of Edmund Pery, 1st Earl of Limerick, which meant that the church would be a chapel, attached to a charity, in this case an Asylum for Blind Females. Bishop Of Meath
The Bishop of Meath is an episcopal title which takes its name after the ancient Kingdom of Meath. In the Roman Catholic Church it remains as a separate title, but in the Church of Ireland it has been united with another bishopric. History Until the early twelfth century, the Kingdom of Meath had been divided into eight small monastic episcopal sees, which were located at Clonard, Duleek, Kells, Trim, Ardbraccan, Dunshaughlin, Slane, and Fore. By the time of the Synod of Rathbreasail, held in 1111, the last five had been united to the see of Clonard. Duleek was still recognized as a separate bishopric at the Synod of Kells, held in 1152, but disappeared not long after that date. The see of Kells was ruled together with Breifne (later Kilmore) in the second half of the twelfth century, but after 1211 Kells was incorporated into the diocese of Meath. Thomas Townsend (bishop)
Thomas Stewart Townsend (1800–1852) was an Irish Anglican bishop in the Church of Ireland in the 19th century. He was successively Dean of Lismore and Dean of Waterford to 1850. He became Bishop of Meath in 1850 and died in post in Málaga on 16 September 1852.
