Mónica De La Cruz (born November 11, 1974) is an American politician and insurance agent from the state of Texas. She has represented in the U.S. House of Representatives since 2023. De La Cruz is the first Republican Party (United States), Republican to represent Texas's 15th congressional district since its creation in 1903. Early life and career De La Cruz graduated from James Pace Early College High School in Brownsville, Texas, and the University of Texas at San Antonio, studying marketing. Tomás de la Cruz Rivero (September 18, 1911 – September 6, 1958) was a Major League Baseball pitcher who played for the Cincinnati Reds in 1944. The 32-year-old rookie was a native of Marianao, Cuba; he played from 1934 to 1947 in the winter Cuban League and from 1945 to 1948 in the Mexican League. In 1960, he was elected to the Cuban Baseball Hall of Fame. Playing career De la Cruz is one of many ballplayers who only appeared in the major leagues during World War II. Oswaldo de la Cruz Vásquez (born 5 October 1940) is a Peruvian former Fujimorist politician and Congressman, elected in the 2006 elections to represent the Pasco Region under the Alliance for the Future party for the 2006–2011 term.
