De Haan, De Heurne
Teunismolen or De Haan ( en, The Rooster) is a smock mill in De Heurne, Gelderland, Netherlands which was built in 1822 and has been restored to working order. The mill is listed as a Rijksmonument. History The mill was built in 1822 by millwrights Vriesen en Buynink of Lichtenvoorde, Gelderland for Wander Ormel. Originally known as ''De Haan'', the mill gets its current name of ''Teunismolen'' from a farm that stood nearby. The mill remained in the ownership of the Ormel family until 1906, although it was worked from 1858 by Hendrikus Iding, and later by his son Stephanus. The mill was bought by J W Heinen in 1906, passing to his sons in 1937. In 1942, a pair of Ten Have sails was fitted; before this, the mill had spent some time working on only two sails. The mill ceased working in 1981 with the death of G J Heinen. It was sold by his brother H J Heinin in 1986 to the Gemeente Dinxperlo, which became the municipality Aalten in 2004. Windmills In Leeuwarden
The city of Leeuwarden, Friesland, the Netherlands has had at least 130 windmills over the centuries. Only one, the ''FroskepĂ´lemolen'' survives today within Leeuwarden. Six other mills which have stood in Leeuwarden survive elsewhere in the Netherlands. The mills had a wide range of industrial and agricultural uses. The industrial uses include the processing of bark for tanning leather, the fulling of cloth, the production of cement, the production of dyes, the extraction of oil (including the production of paints), the grinding of tobacco to produce snuff, the production of gunpowder, and the sawing of timber. Agricultural uses include the milling of buckwheat, oats, rye and wheat, the processing of chicory, the production of pearl barley, and the pumping of water. De Haan, Belgium
De Haan (; french: Le Coq, ; vls, D'n Oane; literally ''The Rooster'') is a place and a municipality located in the Belgian province of West Flanders. The municipality comprises the villages of De Haan proper, Wenduine, Klemskerke, Vlissegem and Harendijk. On January 1, 2020 De Haan had a total population of 12,700. The total area is 46.14 km² (26.2 Miles) which gives a population density of 275.26 inhabitants per km². The coastal village of De Haan proper has maintained a low skyline so its many buildings in Belle Époque style are still prominently visible. The town has an 18-hole golf course situated in its dunes, founded by King Leopold II in 1903. Today, it is the only links course in the country. Its most famous resident was Albert Einstein, who lived in the villa "Savoyarde" for six months in 1933 after leaving Nazi Germany. Volley De Haan
Volley De Haan is a women's volleyball team based in De Haan, Belgium. The club was founded in 1968. The women's A squad currently plays in Ere Divisie, the highest level of the Belgian volleyball league pyramid. In the 2008–09 season, they achieved promotion to this level for the first time in their history, when they defeated penultimate placed Ere Divisie side VC Mosan Yvoir after playoffs. De Haan, champions of 2008–09 champions of First National League B, had missed the opportunity to promote directly after losing the playoffs against DV Hasselt, champions of 1st National League A. Volley De Haan managed to stay in Ere divisie in the 2010 - 2011 season, thanks to a series of victories in the second round.
