Daylight (Jimmy Barnes Song)
"Daylight" is a song by Australian rock musician, Jimmy Barnes. Released in January 1985 as the third and final single from his debut studio album, ''Bodyswerve''. The song peaked at number 12 on the Australian Kent Music Report. A limited edition of the single featuring the first live recording of the Jimmy Barnes band with the band's performance of "Resurrection Shuffle" (Recorded in December 1984) as the b-side of side two as well as a poster pack sold for 2.99 dollars. Barnes originally wrote and recorded the song (then titled "A Little Bit of Daylight") while he was still with Cold Chisel. The Cold Chisel version (which is faster, and features a significantly different arrangement and different lyrics) remained unissued until the release of the band's post-split compilation ''Teenage Love'' in 1994. James Dixon "Jimmy" Barnes (née Swan; born 28 April 1956) is a Scottish-born Australian rock singer. His career, both as a solo performer and as the lead vocalist with the rock band Cold Chisel, has made him one of the most popular and best-selling Australian music artists of all time. Barnes has achieved 15 solo number one albums in Australia, more than any other artist. Additionally Barnes achieved 5 more as lead singer of Cold Chisel, bringing his combined sum to 20 number one albums in Australia, comfortably eclipsing the Beatles (with 14), Madonna (12), Eminem and U2 (11). Resurrection or anastasis is the concept of coming back to life after death. In a number of religions, a dying-and-rising god is a deity which dies and is resurrected. Reincarnation is a similar process hypothesized by other religions, which involves the same person or deity coming back to live in a different body, rather than the same one. The resurrection of the dead is a standard eschatological belief in the Abrahamic religions. A mushroom or toadstool is the fleshy, spore-bearing fruiting body of a fungus, typically produced above ground, on soil, or on its food source. Kent Music Report
The Kent Music Report was a weekly record chart of Australian music singles and albums which was compiled by music enthusiast David Kent from May 1974 through to January 1999. The chart was re-branded the Australian Music Report (AMR) in July 1987. From June 1988, the Australian Recording Industry Association, which had been using the top 50 portion of the report under licence since mid-1983, chose to produce their own listing as the ARIA Charts. Before the Kent Report, ''Go-Set'' magazine published weekly Top-40 Singles from 1966, and Album charts from 1970 until the magazine's demise in August 1974. David Kent later published Australian charts from 1940 to 1973 in a retrospective fashion, using state by state chart data obtained from various Australian radio stations. Renée Rebecca Geyer (born 11 September 1953) is an Australian singer who has long been regarded as one of the finest exponents of jazz, soul and R&B idioms. ''Bodyswerve'' is the debut solo album by former Cold Chisel vocalist Jimmy Barnes. The album was released on 10 September 1984 and went to No. 1 on the Kent Music Report Albums Chart. Note: Used for Australian Singles and Albums charting from 1974 until Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) created their own charts in mid-1988. It contains covers of tracks by Sam Cooke and Janis Joplin. " No Second Prize" was the album's first single. Details "No Second Prize" was originally demoed by Cold Chisel but never recorded by them. It was written in 1980 as a tribute to Chisel roadies Alan Dallow and Billy Rowe, who died in a truck crash. "Daylight" was also originally a Cold Chisel song.
