Mark Costello (Iowa Politician)
Mark Costello (born October 24, 1961) is the Iowa State Senator from the 8th District. A Republican, he has served in the Iowa Senate since being elected in 2014. He had also previously served in the Iowa House of Representatives from 2013–2014. Biography Costello was born in Omaha, Nebraska but moved to Imogene, Iowa as a kid. He graduated from Nishna Valley High School before going on to attend the University of Northern Iowa, receiving a B.A. in computer information systems. After college Costello worked five years as a computer analyst with Garst Seed Company based in Coon Rapids before eventually returning to work on his family farm. J. Brent Siegrist (born September 30, 1952) is an American politician from the state of Iowa. A member of the Republican Party, he served in the Iowa House of Representatives for twenty years, non-consecutively, ten of which he filled the role of Speaker. Career Prior to getting into politics, Siegrist worked as a high school teacher. He was first elected to the Iowa House of Representatives in the 1984 elections. Ray "Bubba" Sorensen is an American artist, businessman, and politician serving as a member of the Iowa House of Representatives from the 23rd district. Elected in November 2018, he assumed office on January 14, 2019. Early life and education Sorensen was born in Creston, Iowa and raised in Fontanelle, Iowa. He studied art at Iowa State University. Career Prior to entering politics, Sorensen worked as a graphic designer for Edje Technologies and Livestock Plus. He also co-owns, with his wife, Sorensen Studios, a photography and mural-painting business. The Iowa House of Representatives is the lower house of the Iowa General Assembly, the upper house being the Iowa Senate. There are 100 seats in the Iowa House of Representatives, representing 100 single-member districts across the state, formed by dividing the 50 Senate districts in half. Each district has a population of approximately 30,464 . The House of Representatives meets at the Iowa State Capitol in Des Moines.
