David Reid (footballer, Born 1897)
David Reid (2 May 1896 – March 1963) was a Scottish football player who played for Everton, captained Ballymena to Irish Cup success in 1929 and also managed both sides of the Irish border with Drumcondra and Glentoran. Early life The Reid family originally came from the Riccarton area near Kilmarnock in Scotland, but moved to Belfast in 1900. David (who had a twin sister Mary) and siblings including Jimmy, Max and Jack were born in Scotland while Willie and Bob were born in Ulster; all the boys became footballers to some extent. Reid began his football career alongside his brothers at Distillery in the late 1910s, winning two caps for the Irish League representative side in 1919 and two consecutive County Antrim Shield winners' medals. Magog is a fictional character in the comic books published by DC Comics, generally as an enemy and foil personality of Superman. He first appeared in '' Kingdom Come'' #1 (May 1996), and was created by Mark Waid and Alex Ross. In 2009, Magog was ranked as IGN's 75th-greatest comic book villain of all time. In ''Kingdom Come'', Magog's lack of the conventional heroic qualities of idealism puts him at odds with Superman's morality. The Contrast (band)
The Contrast are a guitar power pop band based in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, in the United Kingdom. They were formed in 1999 by David Reid and have since released five albums on the New York-based label Rainbow Quartz and two for Wicked Cool Records. Since the release of their second album '' Wireless Days'', their music has been regularly played by Little Steven on his Underground Garage radio show. Little Steven once described them on air as "One of the best bands on the planet – and England too" and consequently invited them to play the Underground Garage Festival on Randall's Island in 2004. In May 2007, they released a new album called ''Underground Ghosts'' (also on Rainbow Quartz) that has since been regularly featured on Little Steven's Underground Garage show. Prof David Boswell Reid MD FRSE FRCPE (1805 – 5 April 1863) was a British physician, chemist and inventor. Through reports on public hygiene and ventilation projects in public buildings, he made a reputation in the field of sanitation. He has been called the "grandfather of air-conditioning". Early life Reid was born in Edinburgh in June 1805, the second son of Peter Reid (1777–1838) and his wife, Christian Arnot, eldest daughter of Hugo Arnot of Balcormo, and was the elder brother of Hugo Reid. When born the family appear to have lived with Peter Reid Sr., a vintner at Milne's Square (now known as Milne's Court) off the Royal Mile. David Donald Reid (10 May 1933 – 27 October 2017) was an Australian politician. He briefly served as a member of the Western Australian Legislative Assembly in 1971–1972 representing the seat of Blackwood, then in 1974 was appointed to the Australian Senate to serve out a vacancy which ended the same year. Biography Reid was born in Bridgetown in the South West region of Western Australia to Donald Reid, a primary producer, and Marion (née Davies). He was educated at Bridgetown Primary School and Denmark Agricultural College, before getting a Diploma in Agriculture as an external student at Muresk College (now part of Curtin University). After completing his schooling, he farmed at Bridgetown and did national service with the Army.
