David John Haskins (born 24 April 1957, Northampton, Northamptonshire, England), better known as David J, is a British alternative rock musician, producer, and writer. He is the bassist for the gothic rock band Bauhaus and for Love and Rockets. He has composed the scores for a number of plays and films, and also wrote and directed his own plays, ''Silver for Gold (The Odyssey of Edie Sedgwick)'', in 2008, which was restaged at REDCAT in Los Angeles in 2011, and ''The Chanteuse and The Devil's Muse'' in 2011. His artwork has been shown in galleries internationally, and he has been a resident DJ at venues such as the Knitting Factory. David J has released a number of singles and solo albums, and in 1990 he released one of the first No. 1 hits on the then nascent Modern Rock Tracks charts, with "I'll Be Your Chauffeur". David Porter (born November 21, 1941) is an American record producer, songwriter, singer, entrepreneur and philanthropist. Porter was a 2005 inductee into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, with catalog sales exceeding 400 million units. In 2015, ''Rolling Stone'' listed him among the 100 Greatest Songwriters of All Time. He is best known for songwriting, having written Sam & Dave's " Soul Man" (1968 Grammy winner), and "Hold On, I'm Comin'". His songs have been sampled in Mariah Carey's "Dreamlover" (1993 Grammy winner), and Will Smith's "Gettin' Jiggy wit It" (1999 Grammy winner). He is also the founder of the Memphis-based Consortium MMT, a nonprofit organization seeking to develop the music industry in Memphis. David Stewart Porter (September 23, 1909 – January 5, 1989) was a United States district judge of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio. Education and career Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, Porter received an Artium Baccalaureus degree from the University of Cincinnati in 1932 and a Juris Doctor from the University of Cincinnati College of Law in 1934. He was an attorney for the Legal Department of the Tennessee Valley Authority from 1935 to 1936. He was in private practice in Troy, Ohio from 1936 to 1949. He was a judge of the Court of Common Pleas for Miami County, Ohio from 1949 to 1966. Federal judicial service Porter was nominated by President Lyndon B. David Richard Porter (1882–1973) was a major figure in the Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA) during the height of the organization's popularity and influence on American high school and college campuses. Porter was Executive Secretary of the 'Student YMCA' (the organization's Student Division) from 1915 to 1934, a period when the role of YMCA was expanding beyond bible study groups to embrace community work, a trajectory Porter encouraged. Born in Old Town, Maine, Porter graduated from Bangor High School in nearby Bangor. He attended Bowdoin College where, according to ''Time'' magazine, he "first won fame by catching a Harvard kickoff behind his own goal line, running it back 107 yards for a touchdown.". David Brownfield Porter (10 May 190614 May 1993) was the suffragan Bishop of Aston from 1962 to 1972. He was born in Metropolitan Borough of Wandsworth, Wandsworth, County of London, London and educated at Hertford College, Oxford. He studied for ordination at Wycliffe Hall, Oxford before a Curate, curacy in Leeds (at St Augustine's Church, Wrangthorn, Wrangthorn St Augustine). David James Porter is a part time acting judge of the Supreme Court of Tasmania, and an adjunct professor of law at the University of Tasmania. Education and legal career Porter graduated from UTAS in 1975 and was admitted to practice in Tasmania in 1978. His early years in practice were spent employed in private practice in a Launceston, becoming a partner in a firm in 1983. He was made managing partner of that firm in 1989. Porter was made Queens Counsel in 1995 after going to the Independent Bar in 1992. He appeared in all courts in Tasmania including the Federal and Family Courts, in the Supreme Court and Court of Appeal of Victoria, the Supreme Court of NSW and in the High Court. David Porter (born July 6, 1949 in Bowmanville, Ontario) is a former Canadian ice dancer. With partner Barbara Berezowski, he won two gold medals at the Canadian Figure Skating Championships and competed at the 1976 Winter Olympics. On October 23, 2008, Porter was inducted into the Scuggog Sports Wall of Fame in Port Perry, Ontario.
