David Parkes (footballer, Born 1950)
David Parkes (born 7 April 1950 in Dublin) is an Irish people, Irish former soccer player who was active during the 1960s and 1970s. After retiring he became a singe Parkes made his League of Ireland debut for St Patrick's Athletic in 1967 and signed for Bohemian FC, Bohemians in 1969. He played his part in Bohs FAI Cup winning campaign of 1970 where he formed a solid full-back partnership with John Doran. He spent 4 seasons at Dalymount Park making 76 appearances in the league and 3 appearances in European competition. He signed for Shamrock Rovers in January 1973 where he stayed for two and a half years. He later played for Waterford FC, Waterford and Drogheda United. His son Gary played for Rovers Under 16s in the 90s. Dalymount Park (Irish: ''Páirc Cnocán Uí Dhálaigh'') is a football stadium in Phibsborough on the Northside of Dublin, Ireland. It is the home of Bohemian F.C., who have played there since the early 20th century. Affectionately known as Dalyer by fans, it was also historically the "home of Irish football", holding many Irish internationals and FAI Cup finals. It has also hosted UEFA Champions League qualifiers, UEFA Cup and UEFA Cup Winners' Cup matches. However, the ground was largely undeveloped between the 1940s and the 2000s, and has now fallen out of use as a major venue, except for the home games of Bohemians. Waterford Football Club ( ga, Cumann Peile Phort Láirge) formerly Waterford United Football Club is an Irish association football club based in Waterford who play in the League of Ireland First Division. The club was founded and elected to the league in 1930. Originally the club was based at the greyhound stadium known as Kilcohan Park, but has now moved to the Waterford Regional Sports Centre. In 2018 the club and its players became fully professional.
