David O'Connor (Egyptologist)
David Bourke O'Connor (5 February 1938 – 1 October 2022) was an Australian-American Egyptologist who primarily worked in the fields of Ancient Egypt and Nubia. O'Connor is the Lila Acheson Wallace Professor Emeritus at New York University's Institute of Fine Art, the Curator Emeritus of the University of Pennsylvania's Egyptian Museum, and the director emeritus of the Abydos Archaeology expedition in Egypt. O'Connor is most well known for his work in the excavation of the ancient city of Abydos in Egypt since 1967. Early life Born in Sydney in 1938, O'Connor's interests in archaeology and ancient history originated when he was a child. His initial interest centred around the ancient civilization of Babylon. O'Connor built a replica of the city of Babylon out of bricks in a field adjacent to his home, and recreated the Fall of Babylon by setting the field alight during the height of the 1968-69 bushfires in New South Wales. David O'Connor (equestrian)
David John O'Connor (born January 18, 1962) is a retired equestrian who represented the United States in the sport of three-day eventing. He competed in two Olympic Games, winning a team silver at the 1996 Summer Olympics and an individual gold and team bronze at the 2000 Summer Olympics. At the 1999 Pan American Games, O'Connor took an individual silver and team gold and at the 2002 World Equestrian Games he assisted the US team to gold. After his retirement from competition in 2004, he became involved in the administrative side of international eventing. O'Connor has held top coaching roles for the US and Canadian national eventing teams, and was president of the United States Equestrian Federation from 2004 to 2012. During his career, O'Connor and his horses were awarded many honors, including equestrian and horse of the year awards from several organizations. David John Haskins (born 24 April 1957, Northampton, Northamptonshire, England), better known as David J, is a British alternative rock musician, producer, and writer. He is the bassist for the gothic rock band Bauhaus and for Love and Rockets. He has composed the scores for a number of plays and films, and also wrote and directed his own plays, ''Silver for Gold (The Odyssey of Edie Sedgwick)'', in 2008, which was restaged at REDCAT in Los Angeles in 2011, and ''The Chanteuse and The Devil's Muse'' in 2011. His artwork has been shown in galleries internationally, and he has been a resident DJ at venues such as the Knitting Factory. David J has released a number of singles and solo albums, and in 1990 he released one of the first No. 1 hits on the then nascent Modern Rock Tracks charts, with "I'll Be Your Chauffeur". Kristine Kathryn Rusch (born June 4, 1960) is an American writer and editor. She writes under various pseudonyms in multiple genres, including science fiction, fantasy, mystery, romance, and mainstream. Rusch won the Hugo Award for Best Novelette in 2001 for her story "Millennium Babies" and the 2003 Endeavour Award for ''The Disappeared'' 2002. Her story "Recovering Apollo 8" won the Sidewise Award for Alternate History (short form) in 2008. Her novel ''The Enemy Within'' won the Sidewise (long form) in 2015. She is married to fellow writer Dean Wesley Smith; they have collaborated on several works. David O'Connor (rugby Union)
David O'Connor (born 19 May 1995) is an Irish rugby union player who plays for Ulster. He plays primarily as a lock, but can also play in the back-row. Born in Dublin, O'Connor attended Blackrock College and was part of the team that won the Leinster Schools Rugby Senior Cup in 2013 and 2014, alongside future Ulster teammate Nick Timoney. He joined the Leinster academy in 2015, but was released in 2017 to pursue other opportunities, though he continued to play rugby with St Mary's in the amateur All-Ireland League, once playing against older brother Alan, before moving across Dublin to join Lansdowne. David O'Connor is an Irish singer and former racing jockey from Ferns, County Wexford. He participated in the fifth series of RTÉ One television talent show ''You're a Star'', finishing as the series winner on 18 March 2007. During the show he charted in Ireland with a recording of one of his live performances. O'Connor previously had a racing career and on one occasion represented Ireland in the Karaoke World Championships. Early life His parents are Willie and Martina from Páirc Mhuire. O'Connor engaged in public performance whilst working as a barman. He was a member of Ferns Dramatic Society, with which he took part in some musicals and variety shows. Racing O'Connor, whose passions include horses, was previously a jockey, and has worked with the renowned trainer Colm Murphy.
