David Mason (trumpeter)
David Mason (2 April 1926 – 29 April 2011) was an English orchestral, solo and session trumpet player. He played the flugelhorn for the premiere of Ralph Vaughan Williams's Symphony No. 9 (Vaughan Williams), ninth symphony and the piccolo trumpet solo on the Beatles' song "Penny Lane". Career Mason was born in London, and educated at Christ's Hospital and the Royal College of Music where he studied with Ernest Hall (trumpet player), Ernest Hall. His early playing career benefited from the timing of the Second World War: as a sixteen-year-old he was ineligible for call-up where many older players had already been recruited, and was thus able to pick up a lot of work in London before and during his time as a student at the Royal College of Music, which was itself interrupted by his own call-up into the Band of the Scots Guards. David Mason (murderer)
David Edwin Mason (December 2, 1956 – August 24, 1993) was an American serial killer who killed at least four elderly people between March and December 1980 in Oakland, California, his cellmate in 1982 and possibly his male lover. For these crimes, he was sentenced to death and executed at San Quentin State Prison's gas chamber in 1993, the last inmate to have been executed in this manner in the state. He was also the first condemned inmate since the reinstatement of the death penalty to voluntarily withdraw all of his appeals. David Mason (born December 11, 1954) is an American writer and the former Poet Laureate of Colorado. Life David Mason was born and raised in Bellingham, Washington. He studied briefly at the Colorado College, but left after one year to work as a fisherman in Alaska. He returned to the college to earn his B.A. in 1978. Mason and then-wife, Jonna Heinrich, moved to Rochester, New York, where he worked as a gardener. In 1980 they went to Greece, where they lived for just over a year in Kardamyli, Greece, in the Mani district of southernmost part of the Peloponnesus. While living there he became a friend of the British travel author and war hero, Patrick Leigh Fermor. Mason returned to the United States when he was hired to write the screenplay for a film based on a novel he had written. David Leslie Mason (born 15 March 1939) is a London art dealer and Thalidomide parent activist. He is the father of a daughter, Louise, disabled by thalidomide. David Mason ( – 5 July 1966), also known by his Māori name, Rawiri Meihana, was a New Zealand rugby league footballer who played in the 1910s. He played at representative level for New Zealand ( Heritage № 57), and Nelson, as a forward (prior to the specialist positions of; ), during the era of contested scrums.
