David Neil MacKenzie
David Neil MacKenzie FBA (8 April 1926 – 13 October 2001) was a scholar of Iranian languages. Biography Neil MacKenzie (he never used his given first name to be distinguished with his namesake father, David) was born in London in 1926 and attended a succession of schools in Southern England. In 1943, aged 17, he enlisted in the British Army. In 1945 and 1946 he served as a soldier on the North-West Frontier Province of British India, where he learned Pashto. Thus acquainted with Iranian languages, he acquired a Bachelor's degree in New Persian and a Master's degree in Old- and Middle Persian at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) of the University of London. His PhD dissertation, ''Kurdish Dialect Studies'' (1957, published 1961–1962), established his reputation as an Iranist and linguist. At SOAS, MacKenzie was appointed Lecturer in Kurdish in 1955, a position that was extended to include all Iranian languages in 1961. He was promoted to Reader in 1965, ...

Dave MacKenzie (politician)
David MacKenzie (born June 12, 1946) is a Canadian politician. He is a current member of the House of Commons of Canada, representing the riding of Oxford, Ontario as a Conservative. Born in London, Ontario, MacKenzie served with the Woodstock City Police from 1967 to 1997, and was Chief of Police from 1987 to 1997. In 1997, he became the General Manager of Roetin Industries Canada. He first ran for parliament in the federal election of 1997 as a Progressive Conservative, losing to Liberal John Finlay by 1,575 votes. He ran again in the election of 2000, and lost to Finlay by roughly the same margin. The national Progressive Conservative Party had a weak organization in Ontario during this period, and that Mackenzie's vote totals were well above the party's provincial average and that in both 1997 and 2000, the right wing vote was split between the Progressive Conservatives and Reform who later became the Canadian Alliance. David Mackenzie (born 10 May 1966) is a Scottish film director and co-founder of the Glasgow-based production company Sigma Films. David Alexander Mackenzie (22 March 1922 – 31 December 1989) was a Scottish trade union leader. Born in Inverness, Mackenzie was educated at Merkinch Public School and then Inverness High School. He left school at the age of fourteen and found work with the London, Midland and Scottish Railway. During World War II, he served in the Royal Navy. Returning to the railway after the war, Mackenzie became active in the Transport Salaried Staffs' Association (TSSA). From 1952, he worked full-time for the union as a divisional secretary, and was promoted to Senior Assistant Secretary in 1966 and Assistant General Secretary in 1968. In this role, he began representing the union on various external bodies, including the Non-Manual Workers' Committee of the Trades Union Congress, the Air Transport and Travel Industry Training Board, and the Hotel and Catering Industry Training Board. Dave MacKenzie is a retired Scottish-Canadian soccer defender who played professionally in the Major Indoor Soccer League. Professional MacKenzie attended Colgate University where he played both hockey and soccer. He was inducted into the school's Athletic Hall of Fame. In 1978, he began his professional career with the Pittsburgh Spirit of the Major Indoor Soccer League. In 1980, he moved to the Hartford Hellions for one season before rejoining the Spirit in 1981. He remained with the Spirit until 1985 when he signed with the Baltimore Blast. In 1988, he was hired to coach the Fort Wayne Flames of the American Indoor Soccer Association.
