David Hall (rugby Union)
David George Hall (born 16 April 1980) is a New Zealand rugby union player. He predominantly played as a hooker. He comes from a rugby background being the grand nephew of former All Black and Southland legend Les George. Early rugby career Hall started his career as a loose forward before becoming a hooker in 2002. Hall gained his 50th cap playing for Southland against Tasman on 16 September 2006. He still occasionally plays Number 8 for the Stags due to Jason Rutledge having recently cemented the hooker role for both the Stags and for the Highlanders in Super Rugby. It was announced Hall would play his 2012 NPC rugby for the Northland Taniwha at the opposite end of the country. Winton, New Zealand
Winton is a rural town in Southland, New Zealand. It is located close to the east bank of the Ōreti River, 30 kilometres north of Invercargill and 50 kilometres south of Lumsden. The town is named after Thomas Winton, a local stockman who lived and farmed in the area in the 1850s. The district thrived with the development of sheep and fat-lamb farms in the early 1900s. Later, dairy farming became the staple economy, although the town has also seen sawmills, and flax and linen-flax industries. Today, Winton thrives as an agricultural service town for local farmers and traders and as a stop-off for travellers on the Invercargill– Queenstown highway. Its population is not declining, partly because farmers retire there, attracted by a climate that is warmer, drier and calmer than Invercargill or Southland’s coastal districts. 2010 Super 14 Season
The 2010 Super 14 season kicked off in February 2010 with pre-season matches held from mid-January. It finished on 29 May. The 2010 season was the fifth and last season of the expanded Super 14 format. The schedule, which covers 3½ months, featured a total of 94 matches, with each team playing one full round-robin against the 13 other teams, two semi-finals and a final.
