David Griffin (born 19 July 1943) is an English actor best known for both his roles as Squadron Leader Clive Dempster DFC in ''Hi-de-Hi!'' between 1984 and 1988 and Emmet Hawksworth in ''Keeping Up Appearances'' between 1991 and 1995. Career His first screen role was in 1960 in the film ''A French Mistress,'' and roles like Ricketts in ''The Fifth Form at St. Dominic's'' in 1961, David Ashton in ''Outbreak of Murder'' in 1962 and Mark Dennison in ''Quick Before They Catch Us'' in 1966 followed soon after and became both popular and familiar with viewers. David Christian Griffin, Jr. (born September 26, 1991) is a former American football offensive lineman. He played college football at University of Hawaii at Manoa and attended Florida A&M University Developmental Research School in Tallahassee, Florida. He was a member of the Edmonton Eskimos, Iowa Barnstormers, Cedar Rapids Titans, Cleveland Gladiators, Columbus Lions and Richmond Roughriders. David Griffin (born November 16, 1973) is an American professional basketball executive who is the executive vice president of basketball operations for the New Orleans Pelicans of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Prior to the Pelicans, served as the general manager for the Cleveland Cavaliers, who won the NBA championship in 2016 and reached the NBA Finals in three consecutive seasons under his watch. Griffin also worked as an analyst for NBA TV. Early life Griffin was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. He attended high school at Brophy College Preparatory. David Griffin (born 14 May 1997) is an Irish hurler who plays as a full-back for club sides Carrigaline and University College Cork and at inter-county level with the Cork senior hurling team. Sir Charles David Griffin CBE (8 July 1915 – 25 March 2004) was an Australian lawyer and businessman, and the Lord Mayor of Sydney from 1972 to 1973. He was a prisoner of war at Changi in Singapore during World War II, and a poet. Always known as David, Griffin was born in Leura in the Blue Mountains and was educated at Cranbrook. In 1941 he sailed for Malaya and was present in Singapore at its fall to the Japanese in 1942. A prisoner of war in Changi for three years, he was released in 1945. He returned to the legal profession in Sydney. He was elected to the council of the City of Sydney in 1962 representing the Civic Reform Association, before becoming Lord Mayor in 1972. Griffin had been involved in radio and the theatre, and in 2002 published a book of poems written in Changi, including ''The Happiness Box''.
