David Gordon (economist)
David M. Gordon (1944 – March 16, 1996) was an American economist and Professor of Economics at the Graduate Faculty of the New School for Social Research. He founded the Institute for Labor Education and Research in 1975 and later the Schwartz Center for Economic Policy Analysis in New York City. Gordon worked to disseminate progressive economic ideas to the general public and to contribute to the development of a left-political movement in the United States. Gordon's work dealt mainly with discrimination and labor market segmentation. He coined the term social structure of accumulation which gave rise to an extensive body of work on the impact of political, social and economic institutions on long-term investment and growth. David Gordon (July 14, 1936 – January 29, 2022) was an American dancer, choreographer, writer, and theatrical director prominent in the world of postmodern dance and performance. Based in New York City, Gordon's work has been seen in major performance venues across the United States, Europe, South America and Japan, and has appeared on television on PBS's ''Great Performances'' and '' Alive TV'', and the BBC and Channel 4 in Great Britain. Twice a Guggenheim Fellow (1981 and 1987), Gordon has been a panelist of the dance program panels of the National Endowment for the Arts and the New York State Council on the Arts, and chairman of the former. He was a member of the Actors Studio, and was a founder of the Center for Creative Research. David Gordon (born December 7, 1947) is an American concert and opera tenor, particularly noted as a Bach singer. He was born in Doylestown, Pennsylvania and trained at McGill University, the College of Wooster, and the Lyric Opera of Chicago where he made his debut in 1973. He went on to appear as soloist with orchestras and operas worldwide. Gordon is on the staff of the Carmel Bach Festival in California. Aside from his international vocal career, he is a teacher of Baroque vocal styles and has been an innovator in the creation of English supertitles for the great choral masterworks of Bach and Handel. David William Gordon (February 27, 1832 – February 19, 1893) was a Canadian politician from British Columbia. Gordon was born in Camden Township, Upper Canada, the son of Michael Gordon. He went to California in 1856 and then moved to the Colony of Vancouver Island in 1858, where he established himself as a professional architect and builder in Nanaimo. Gordon was a prominent citizen and one of the wealthiest men in the city. He ran as an unaffiliated candidate in the 1875 provincial election, losing a close race to John Bryden, an "opposition" candidate.
