David Kennedy Fraser
David Kennedy Fraser FRSE FEIS (10 February 1888 – 26 August 1962) was a Scottish psychologist, educator and amateur mathematician. He was an author of several books looking at the education of the handicapped and was closely associated with the Scottish Association for Mental Health. He campaigned vigorously for the rights of handicapped persons. He was the grandson of the celebrated Scottish singer David Kennedy (singer), David Kennedy and was named in his honour. Life Fraser was born on 10 February 1888 in Edinburgh the son of the celebrated singer Marjory Kennedy-Fraser, Marjory Kennedy (1857-1930) and Alexander Yule Fraser FRSE (1850-1890), a maths teacher at George Watson's College. His father died when he was two years old. General Sir David William Fraser, (30 December 1920 – 15 July 2012) was a senior British Army officer who served as Commandant of the Royal College of Defence Studies from 1978 until his retirement from military service in 1980. He was also a prolific author, publishing over 20 books mostly focused on the history of the Second World War. Early life Fraser was born on 30 December 1920. David Allison Fraser is a retired Canadian Forces officer who served as a major-general in Land Force Command. The country’s first general officer to command American troops in combat since the Second World War, Fraser's most noteworthy role was as brigadier-general during Operation Medusa, which took place in Afghanistan from September 1–17, 2006 as part of NATO’s coalition efforts in the region. Since retiring from the Canadian Armed Forces in 2011 after 32 years of service, Fraser has worked in the private sector, currently serving as president of AEGIS Six Corporation. In May 2018, he released Operation Medusa: The Furious Battle That Saved Afghanistan from the Taliban, which he co-authored with Brian Hanington.
