David Ellis (scriptwriter)
David Ellis (born Derrick Francis Kerkham; 22 June 1918 – 30 June 1978) was the co-writer with Malcolm Hulke of the ''Doctor Who'' serial ''The Faceless Ones'', recorded with Patrick Troughton in 1967. The story was penned by the duo following the rejection of previous scripts by the two men. Indeed, Ellis himself had seen his script ideas for “The Clock”, “The People Who Couldn't Remember” and “The Ocean Liner” all rejected. Their script “The Big Store” was also finally not commissioned despite extensive work, though some of the ideas about the substitution of people by replicas was taken further in ''The Faceless Ones'', with the scenario changed from a department store to an airport. David Ellis's other writing credits include Paul Temple, Spy Trap, and many episodes of ''Dixon of Dock Green'' in the 1960s and ''Z-Cars'' in the late 1960s and early 1970s. David Ellis (biographer)
David Ellis (born 23 June 1939) is an English academic and writer. He went from a local grammar school to study English at Downing College, Cambridge under F. R. Leavis and then spent three years teaching at La Trobe University in Melbourne, Australia. The rest of his academic career was at the University of Kent in Canterbury, apart from two years as a visiting professor in two separate universities in the United States and another as an Andrew Mellon Fellow at the National Humanities Center in North Carolina. In 1998 he took early retirement in order to write more and has since published over a dozen books. He remains an Emeritus Professor at the University of Kent. Married with two daughters and three grandchildren he lives in Faversham, Kent. Dave Ellis (born 1965) is an author, video game writer and video game designer. He is also an avid classic arcade game collector and was a columnist for '' Gameroom Magazine''. Career Ellis got his start in the video game industry with MicroProse in March 1992 in Hunt Valley, Maryland. He started out in customer service then transferred to QA and eventually worked his way up to game design. It is here Ellis was first exposed to '' X-COM'', a game franchise he would be involved with one way or another for most of his career. In 1998, Ellis designed a new installment of the X-COM series, a space-shooter, '' X-COM: Interceptor''. Ellis remained with MicroProse for seven and half years, surviving two buy-outs (from Spectrum HoloByte and then Hasbro Interactive in 1999). Dave Ellis is an American saxophonist. A native of the San Francisco Bay Area, Ellis came to prominence in the 1990s as a member of guitarist Charlie Hunter's band. Ellis has since been known for his work with Bob Weir after the breakup of the Grateful Dead and with flugelhornist Dmitri Matheny. Ellis has recorded albums as a bandleader. His ''State of Mind'' album (2003), is his second recording produced by Orrin Keepnews and won a 2004 award for Outstanding Album from the California Music Awards. David Thomson Ellis (10 April 1869 – 29 January 1940) was a Scottish footballer who played as a centre-forward and made one appearance for the Scotland national team. Club career Ellis played for Mossend Swifts in the early 1890s, but also featured in a friendly match for Heart of Midlothian on 1 March 1890. He joined Heart of Midlothian in the second half of the 1891–92 season, where he played until the end of the following season, making fourteen appearances and scoring two goals for the club in the Scottish Football League. Ellis also featured for Celtic as a guest player in a friendly against Nottingham Forest on 4 April 1892. International career Ellis earned his first and only cap for Scotland on 19 March 1892 in the 1891–92 British Home Championship against Ireland in Belfast.
