David Eckersley-Maslin
Rear Admiral David Michael Eckersley-Maslin CB (27 September 1929 - 26 July 2017) was a Royal Navy officer who served as Flag Officer Sea Training. Naval career Educated at Britannia Royal Naval College, Eckersley-Maslin joined the Royal Navy and shortly thereafter saw action during the Malayan Emergency in the early 1950s.'' HMS Fife (D20)
HMS ''Fife'' was the first unit of the Batch 2 destroyers of the Royal Navy. She was subsequently sold to Chile and scrapped in 2005. Design and construction ''Fife'' was the first and only British warship to bear the name, for the county of Fife. She was a Mk.2 Guided Missile Destroyer (GMD, also referred to pre-1975 by its then US Navy/NATO designator DLG (Destroyer, Light, Guided (USN 'Frigate') carrying long range surface to air missiles for area defence; post-1975 DDG, 'destroyer' with similar characteristics). The Most Honourable Order of the Bath is a British order of chivalry founded by George I on 18 May 1725. The name derives from the elaborate medieval ceremony for appointing a knight, which involved bathing (as a symbol of purification) as one of its elements. The knights so created were known as "Knights of the Bath". George I "erected the Knights of the Bath into a regular Military Order". HMS ''Blake'' was a light cruiser of the of the British Royal Navy, the last of the (traditional) Royal Navy gun-armed cruisers in the 20th century. She was named after Robert Blake, a 17th-century admiral who was the "Father of the Royal Navy". She was ordered in 1942 as one of the of light cruisers. They had a low construction priority due to more pressing requirements for other ship types during World War II, particularly anti-submarine craft. The term "cruiser", which has been in use for several hundred years, has changed its meaning over time.
