David Clark (Utah Politician)
David Clark (born July 3, 1953) is an American politician and banker from Utah. A Republican, he was a member of the Utah State House, representing the state's 74th house district in Santa Clara. He was elected by his colleagues in November 2006 to serve as Majority Leader in the Utah House. In November 2008 he was elected Speaker of the House and served two terms in that capacity. Early life, education, and banking career David Clark was born in Provo, Utah. He graduated from Brigham Young University, where he played football for coach LaVell Edwards. He also attended National Commercial Lenders Graduate School and Pacific Coast School of Banking. In 1976, he became President of Regional Banking of Zions Bank. Utah's 4th congressional district is a congressional district created by the state legislature as a result of reapportionment by Congress after the 2010 Census showed population increases in the state relative to other states. Prior to 2010 reapportionment, Utah had three congressional districts. Some 85 percent of the new district is concentrated in Salt Lake County and it includes a portion of Salt Lake City, which is shared with the 2nd and 3rd districts; it also includes parts of Utah, Juab, and Sanpete counties. Candidates first appeared on the 2012 ballot. Jim Matheson
James David Matheson (born March 21, 1960) is an American politician who served as a United States Representative from Utah from 2001 to 2015. He represented Utah's 2nd district from 2001 to 2013 and its from 2013 to 2015 as a member of the Democratic Party. While in office, he was Utah's only Democratic congressman, and his district was one of the most Republican-leaning districts to be represented by a Democrat. On December 17, 2013, Matheson announced he would not seek reelection in the 2014 elections. There was speculation that Matheson, a moderate Democrat, might run in 2016 for Governor of Utah or for the Utah U.S. Senate seat coming open then, but this did not happen.
