David Barmasai Tumo (born 1 January 1989) is a Kenyan long-distance runner who specialises in marathon running. He has a personal best of 2:07:18 hours (set winning the 2011 Dubai Marathon) and came fifth at the 2011 World Championships in Athletics. Biography Raised near Eldoret in Kenya's Uasin Gishu District, Barmasai took up running seriously in 2009 and hoped to emulate the success of William Kiplagat (the 2003 Rotterdam Marathon winner). By the end of the year Barmasai entered his first elite marathon race in Eldoret and he won in a time of 2:16:00 hours. He signed up with European athletics manager Jos Hermens and, after injuries interrupted his 2010 training, he ran his second marathon race at the high-altitude Nairobi Marathon, which he won in an improved time of 2:10:31 hours. Evans Kiprop Cheruiyot (born May 10, 1982, in Kapkoi village, Keiyo District) is a Kenyan long-distance runner who competes in the marathon. He started out as a half marathon runner, taking wins in Rotterdam and Nairobi, and won his debut marathon race in Milan in 2007. He won the Chicago Marathon in 2008, running a personal best of 2:06:25 hours. Cheruiyot has also represented Kenya internationally and was the bronze medallist at the 2007 IAAF World Road Running Championships. Background A mechanic by training, Cheruiyot is the seventh-born of a family of nine. After graduating from Kapkoi Primary School, in Rift Valley Province's Keiyo District, he took a mechanical engineering and driving course upon joining the National Youth Service (NYS). The Lagos Marathon is a silver label marathon held annually in :Lagos, Nigeria. Overview The origins of the event trace back to 1983 when the first ever Lagos international marathon took place.
