Dave Gilbert (game Designer)
Dave Gilbert (born March 31, 1976) is an American designer of independent adventure games using Adventure Game Studio. He began creating home-made, freeware games, and went professional in 2006, founding Wadjet Eye Games and releasing commercially '' The Shivah'' and '' The Blackwell Legacy''. Game design career Gilbert's first adventure game was ''The Repossessor'' in 2001, an entry in the Reality-on-the-Norm series (a shared universe for adventure games started by Ben Croshaw). He went on to make three more RON titles, which gained a reputation for being among the better games in the series. In 2003, Gilbert released ''Bestowers of Eternity — Part One'', a game about a young woman who inherits a family ghost when her aunt dies in an insane asylum. It went on to win multiple awards in the 2003 AGS Awards. In 2004, the AGS Forums organized the AGS Team Challenge, an informal contest where teams worked together to create an adventure game. An episodic video game is a video game of a shorter length that is commercially released as an installment to a continuous and larger series. Episodic games differ from conventional video games in that they often contain less content but are developed on a more frequent basis. Such a series may or may not have Continuity (fiction), continuity, but will always share settings, characters, and/or themes. Episodic production in this manner has become increasingly popular among video game developers since the advent of low-cost digital distribution systems, which can immensely reduce their distribution overhead and make episodes financially viable. ''The Blackwell Convergence'' is a 2009 graphic adventure game developed and published by Wadjet Eye Games. It is the third entry in the ''Blackwell'' series, following '' The Blackwell Legacy'' and ''Blackwell Unbound''. Plot ''The Blackwell Convergence'' takes place six months after the events in ''Legacy.'' While visiting a gallery for a preliminary viewing, Rosa starts to investigate a possible lead of a ghost's presence from a director at a film company. Plot The second game is a prequel to ''Legacy'' and follows the investigations of Rosa's aunt Lauren Blackwell and Joey back in the 70s. They investigate two ghosts – a murdered saxophone player and a murdered woman haunting a construction site of her old apartment building. The Game Developers Choice Awards are awards annually presented at the Game Developers Conference for outstanding game developers and games. Introduced in 2001, the Game Developers Choice Awards were preceded by the Spotlight Awards, which were presented from 1997 to 1999.
