Dave Collins (radio Personality)
Dave Collins is a British radio DJ who has broadcast across a number of radio stations in his career including Voice of Peace and Radio Caroline and a dozen radio stations in the UK. Career Dave was born in Liverpool and worked as a carpenter/joiner for Liverpool City Council. He gained a City and Guilds qualification in his trade. In his spare time, he worked on various landbased pirate radio stations in Liverpool such as Radio Elenore (he was owner/programme manager after Peanut Kenny decided to quit radio). He also spent a short period of time working on ABC Radio in Dublin in the early 80's and on Radio West in Mullingar in Ireland. ;The Voice of Peace In 1984, he joined The Voice of Peace radio station in Israel. Voice Of Peace
Voice of Peace ( he, קול השלום, ''Kol HaShalom'') was an offshore radio station that broadcast in the Middle East for 20 years from the former Dutch cargo vessel ''MV Peace'' (formally ''MV Cito''), anchored off the Israeli coast in the Eastern Mediterranean. Founded by Abie Nathan and the New York-based Peace Ship Foundation, the station broadcast almost continuously between 19 May 1973 and November 1993. The station was relaunched but solely as an online station in August 2009. A second online channel called The Voice of Peace Classics was added in 2014. Radio Caroline
Radio Caroline is a British radio station founded in 1964 by Ronan O'Rahilly and Alan Crawford initially to circumvent the record companies' control of popular music broadcasting in the United Kingdom and the BBC's radio broadcasting monopoly. Unlicensed by any government for most of its early life, it was a pirate radio station that never became illegal as such due to operating outside any national jurisdiction, although after the Marine Offences Act (1967) it became illegal for a British subject to associate with it. The Radio Caroline name was used to broadcast from international waters, using five different ships with three different owners, from 1964 to 1990, and via satellite from 1998 to 2013. Since August 2000, Radio Caroline has also broadcast 24 hours a day via the internet and by the occasional restricted service licence. Abie Nathan
Avraham "Abie" Nathan ( he, אברהם "אייבי" נתן, 29 April 1927 – 27 August 2008) was an Israeli humanitarian and peace activist. He founded the Voice of Peace radio station. When he died the president of Israel Shimon Peres said about him: "He was one of the most prominent and special people in the country... He is the man who dedicated his life for other people and for a better humanity." Early years Abie Nathan was born to a Jewish family in Abadan, Persia, on 29 April 1927 and spent his adolescent years in Bombay (now Mumbai), India. He became a pilot in the Royal Air Force in 1944. In 1948 he volunteered as a pilot in the Machal (volunteers in the 1948 Arab-Israeli War) and stayed in Israel thereafter. He worked for El Al airlines and later opened a restaurant in Tel Aviv. CFM is an Independent Local Radio station based in Carlisle, England, owned and operated by Bauer as part of the Hits Radio network. It broadcasts to Cumbria and South West Scotland. As of September 2022, the station has a weekly audience of 135,250 listeners according to RAJAR. On 29 November 2022, Bauer announced that CFM will rebrand to Greatest Hits Radio in April 2023. Wire FM was an Independent Local Radio station serving the Warrington, Widnes and Runcorn areas of Cheshire. Following its sale to Bauer Radio, the station was closed and merged with the Greatest Hits Radio network in September 2020. History Wire FM's origins began in 1990 when two presenters at Warrington's hospital radio station, Stephen Cooper and Philip Houltby, decided to run an Restricted Service Licence, RSL station for the town.
