Dave Allan (racing Driver)
David Allan (1 April 1965 – 3 July 2012) was a British racing driver and Honda test driver. He started his racing career in the National Saloon Car Championship with Synchro Motorsport which he was a key member of, driving a Honda Civic finishing 14th with 16 points. He drove in the series for another two years finishing 10th in 1999 and 14th in 2000 along with entering one race of the Belgian Procar in both years. For 2001 he made the switch to the British Touring Car Championship driving a Honda Accord in the Production Class eventually finishing 12th in the championship, missing three rounds with Mark Lemmer driving in two. He made a late entry in 2002 racing alongside eventual Production champion James Kaye driving a Honda Civic Type-R. He was outraced by Kaye for most of the season finishing 9th in the championship. Synchro Motorsport
A synchro (also known as selsyn and by other brand names) is, in effect, a transformer whose primary-to-secondary coupling may be varied by physically changing the relative orientation of the two windings. Synchros are often used for measuring the angle of a rotating machine such as an antenna platform. In its general physical construction, it is much like an electric motor. The primary winding of the transformer, fixed to the rotor, is excited by an alternating current, which by electromagnetic induction, causes voltages to appear between the Y-connected secondary windings fixed at 120 degrees to each other on the stator. The voltages are measured and used to determine the angle of the rotor relative to the stator. Silverstone Circuit
Silverstone Circuit is a motor racing circuit in England, near the Northamptonshire villages of Towcester, Silverstone and Whittlebury. It is the home of the British Grand Prix, which it first hosted as the 1948 British Grand Prix. The 1950 British Grand Prix at Silverstone was the first race in the newly created World Championship of Drivers. The race rotated between Silverstone, Aintree and Brands Hatch from 1955 to 1986, but settled permanently at the Silverstone track in 1987. The circuit also hosts the British round of the MotoGP series. Honda Civic Type R
The is a series of high-performance hatchback/ sedan models based on the Civic, developed and produced by Honda since September 1997. The first Civic Type R was the third model to receive Honda's Type R badge (after the NSX and Integra). Type R versions of the Civic typically feature a lightened and stiffened body, specially tuned engine, and upgraded brakes and chassis, and are offered only in five- or six-speed manual transmission. Like every other Type R models, red is used in the Honda badge background to give it a special sporting distinction and to separate it from other models. 2007 Britcar 24 Hour
The 2007 Britcar 24 Hour or 2007 24 Hours of Silverstone was an automobile endurance race, organised by Britcar, held from 8 to 9 September 2007 at Silverstone Circuit. It was the 3rd edition of the Britcar 24 Hour event. The race was won by Duller Motorsport, running a BMW Z4, driven by Dieter Quester, Dirk Werner, Tim Mullen and Jamie Campbell-Walter. The race is also well known for having been featured on Top Gear, Season 10, Episode 9, in which Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May along with The Stig ( Ben Collins) participated in. Croft Circuit is a motor racing circuit located near Dalton-on-Tees in North Yorkshire, England. The tarmac circuit is long and is based on the lands of an airfield, but has long since moved on from being a basic airfield circuit. The circuit holds meetings of the British Touring Car Championship, British Rallycross and Pickup Truck Racing race series. Snetterton Circuit is a motor racing course in Norfolk, England, originally opened in 1953. Owned by Jonathan Palmer's MotorSport Vision organisation, it is situated on the A11 road north-east of the town of Thetford and south-west of the city of Norwich. Knockhill Racing Circuit
Knockhill Racing Circuit is a motor racing circuit in Fife, Scotland. It opened in September 1974 and is Scotland's national motorsport centre. The circuit is located in the countryside about north of Dunfermline. It is the only FIA approved circuit in Scotland. History The circuit opened in September 1974. It was created by joining service roads to a nearby disused mineral railway, closed in 1951, which served Lethans Colliery. The first car race was held on 18 May 1975.
