Darryl Herrod
Darryl Herrod (born 2 June 1945) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Geelong and Fitzroy in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Herrod came to Geelong from Assumption College, in Kilmore. He made over 75 appearances for the Geelong reserves and won the Gardiner Medal in 1966, but managed just seven senior games. At Fitzroy he put together regular senior appearances, with his most productive season coming in 1970 when he appeared in 19 rounds. A half back flanker, he spent 1972 and 1973 in Tasmania, with the North Hobart Football Club. Assumption College, Kilmore
Assumption College (often known as ACK, where the K stands for Kilmore) is an Australian Catholic co-educational secondary day and boarding school. The school is located in the town of Kilmore, Victoria. The College was founded in 1893 by the Marist Brothers and is part of a network of Marist schools in Australia and throughout the world. Assumption College first took in boarders 1901 to meet the educational needs of Catholic families throughout regional Victoria and southern New South Wales. Norman Brown (6 August 1943 – 1 December 2022) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Fitzroy in the VFL. Football Fitzroy (VFL) Brown joined Fitzroy from North Heidelberg in 1962. Known for his size (191 cm), physical strength and courage, he was not particularly pretty to watch. {{Use Australian English, date=January 2018 The Gardiner Medal was an Australian rules football award, formerly awarded to the best and fairest player in the VFL Reserves competition. Officially named the Seconds prior to 1959 and the Reserves from 1959 onwards, the competition ran from 1919 until 1999 and the medal was first awarded in 1926. The Medal was named in honour of Frank Gardiner, a former president of the VFL Seconds. The award was voted for by the field umpires at the conclusion of each match in the same format as used in the senior grade's Brownlow Medal. As for the Brownlow Medal, ties were originally decided on a countback of who received the most "best-on-ground" votes.
