Dark Mirror (Duane Novel)
''Dark Mirror'' is a science fiction novel by American writer Diane Duane, part of the ''Star Trek'' saga. It is set in the Mirror Universe, and offers an explanation of its more violent culture. Plot In ''Dark Mirror'', the Mirror-Spock left the Enterprise and rose through the ranks and spearheaded an effort to reform the Empire. However, the Mirror- Kirk framed him for treason, which resulted in Spock's execution. Soon afterwards Mirror-Sarek was assassinated by another Vulcan seeking his job. As a result, Spock's attempted reforms died with him and the Empire is still alive and powerful. The Klingons are a conquered race, forced into slavery by the Empire after their defeat. The Romulans have also been defeated by the Empire, but committed suicide en masse rather than submit to Terran rule. Keith Birdsong
Keith Birdsong (July 14, 1959 – June 4, 2019) was a Muscogee Creek-Cherokee illustrator, known best for illustrating covers of '' Star Trek'' novels, which usually depicted the various characters of the ''Star Trek'' television series and movies in a realistic manner. Life and career A self-taught artist, Birdsong grew up in Muskogee, Oklahoma, until the age of 15. He subsequently moved to California, and Texas for one year each. He then moved to Missouri, where he finished school, and got married before joining the United States Army, serving in the 82nd Airborne Division. He completed several illustration projects for the Army during this time. Birdsong worked as a journalist before becoming a professional illustrator. His chosen medium was acrylic paint and colored pencil. The Romulans () are an extraterrestrial race in the American science fiction franchise ''Star Trek''. They first appeared in the series ''Star Trek'' (1966–1969).
