Daniel Patrick Russell is an Australian actor. He is best known for his roles on stage, including the titular role in '' Billy Elliot the Musical'' in the Australian production and on the Broadway tour. Early life Russell is originally from Umina Beach in New South Wales, Australia. His first role was the titular role in a community theatre production of ''Oliver!'' in March, 2007. Career Russell began his professional career starring in '' Billy Elliot the Musical''. He submitted a DVD of himself to the casting team and was then invited to audition in person, before eventually landing the role in the Australian production debuting on 25 April 2009. He was then flown to the United States to reprise the role on the Broadway Tour, alongside Faith Prince. His first performance on the tour was 14 November 2010. Umina Beach is a suburb within the local government area on the Central Coast of New South Wales, Australia. By road, it is north of the Sydney CBD and south of the Newcastle CBD. The Theatre World Award is an American honor presented annually to actors and actresses in recognition of an outstanding New York City stage debut performance, either on Broadway theatre, Broadway or Off-Broadway. It was first awarded for the 1945–1946 theatre season. Her Majesty's Theatre is a 1,700-seat theatre in Melbourne's East End Theatre District, Australia. Built in 1886, it is located at 219 Exhibition Street, Melbourne.
