Burke (October 25, 1868 – March 20, 1933) was a reserve catcher/outfielder in Major League Baseball who played briefly for the Rochester Broncos and the Syracuse Stars in , and with the Boston Beaneaters in . Listed at 5' 10", 190 lb., Burke batted and threw right-handed. He was born in Abington, Massachusetts. In a 42-game career, Burke was a .175 hitter (22-for-126) with 15 runs, one double, nine RBI, and a .307 on-base percentage without any home runs. Daniel P. Burke (born April 3, 1959, in Lynwood, California) is an American basketball coach who serves as assistant coach for the Philadelphia 76ers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Coaching career Portland Trail Blazers Burke spent eight seasons (1989–1997) with the Trail Blazers and went to the playoffs each time including three Western Conference finals and two NBA Finals appearances in 1990 and 1992. During his time with the Blazers, Burke worked under Rick Adelman and P. J. Carlesimo. Indiana Pacers In 1997, Burke joined the Pacers. During his tenure the team reached the playoffs 14 times, including six Eastern Conference Finals appearances and one NBA Finals appearance. The Pacers have ranked in the league's top 10 defensive teams for the past five seasons, having the best defense rating in 2013–14. Daniel Burke (February 4, 1929 – October 26, 2011) was an American television executive. Biography Originally from Albany, New York, Burke served in the Korean War, later earning his bachelor's degree from the University of Vermont and his MBA from Harvard Business School. He worked for General Foods in Albany for five years after leaving Harvard before joining Capital Cities. In 2011, the ''Los Angeles Times'' called Burke one of the "architects of the modern television industry." Acquisition of the American Broadcasting Company With Capital Cities Chairman Tom Murphy, Burke spearheaded the $3.5 billion acquisition of the American Broadcasting Company in 1986 by Capital Cities, a much smaller company. Burke became President of ABC following the merger, running the daily operations of the television network until his retirement in 1994.
