Adhaim Dam
Adhaim Dam is a multi-purpose embankment dam on the Al Uzaym (Adhaim) River 133 km northeast of Baghdad, Iraq. The purpose of the dam is flood control, hydro-power and irrigation. The dam was completed in 2000 with only the embankment, spillway and intake. The power station and irrigation outlets are unfinished. When complete, the power station will have a 27 MW installed capacity and the irrigation outlet will be able to discharge . Deralok Dam
The Rashava-Deralok Dam is a gravity dam currently being constructed on the Great Zab River, just upstream of the town of Deralok in Dohuk Governorate, Kurdistan region of Iraq. The dam will support a 37.6 MW run-of-the-river hydroelectric power station, with the primary purpose to address continued power shortfalls in the region, most precisely to supply the towns of Amadiya and Badinan. According to Kurdish Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani, it is the first hydropower project launched by the Kurdistan Regional Government. Diyala River
The Diyala River (Arabic: ; ku, Sîrwan; Farsi: , ) is a river and tributary of the Tigris. It is formed by the confluence of Sirwan river and Tanjaro river in Darbandikhan Dam in the Sulaymaniyah Governorate of Northern Iraq. It covers a total distance of . Course It rises near Hamadan, in the Zagros Mountains of Iran. It then descends through the mountains, where for some 32 km it forms the border between the two countries. It finally feeds into the Tigris below Baghdad. Great Zab
The Great Zab or Upper Zab ( (''al-Zāb al-Kabīr''), or , , ''(zāba ʻalya)'') is an approximately long river flowing through Turkey and Iraq. It rises in Turkey near Lake Van and joins the Tigris in Iraq south of Mosul. The drainage basin of the Great Zab covers approximately , and during its course, the rivers collects the water from many tributaries. The river and its tributaries are primarily fed by rainfall and snowmelt – as a result of which discharge fluctuates highly throughout the year. At least six dams have been planned on the Great Zab and its tributaries, but construction of only one, the Bekhme Dam, has commenced but was halted after the Gulf War. Bawanur Dam
The Bawanur Dam is an earth-fill dam currently being constructed on the Diyala River just upstream of the town of Bawanur in Sulaymaniyah Governorate, Iraq. The tall dam will support a 32 MW run-of-the-river hydroelectric power station. It will also serve to control floods and provide water for irrigation. In August 2013, the Kurdistan Regional Government signed a US$200 million contract with the Romanian firm, Hidroconstrucția, to build the dam and power station. The Bastora Dam or Goma-Span Dam is a gravity dam currently being constructed on the Bastora River at Goma span gorge, near Gomespan, in Erbil Governorate, Iraq. Alwand Dam
Alwand Dam is a dam located on the Alwand River, southeast of Khanaqin, from the Iraqi-Iranian border. It is a hydroponic dam with a mud core with a length of and a height of . Wadi Hauran
Wadi Hauran (also Wadi Houran, Wādī Ḩawrān ar, وادي حوران) is the longest Wadi in Iraq. Located in Al Anbar Governorate west of Iraq, at Latitude33.0333°, Longitude40.2500Wādī Ḩawrānis roughly midway between Damascus and Baghdad near the town of Rutba, it stretches for from the Iraq–Saudi border to the Euphrates river near Haditha. Often the term "Wadi Hauran" is used to refer to the larger geographic area including the wadi itself and its surrounding hills, in addition to small wadis branching from it. Bounded by steep banks and at a depth varying between the valley is the deepest in Iraq. Although it is usually dry there are oases located in the eastern part of the valley, and in rainy seasons can become a watercourse. Lake Qadisiyah
A man-made reservoir in Al-Anbar, Iraq, Lake Qadisiyah ( ar, بحيرة القادسية) sits on the north side of the Haditha Dam. Qadisiyah was formed by the damming of the Euphrates river above Haditha, Iraq.
