"Da Coconut Nut" is a song by National Artist of the Philippines, Filipino National Artist Ryan Cayabyab originally popularized by the band Smokey Mountain (band), Smokey Mountain in 1991. ''Philippine Daily Inquirer'' editor Rito Asilo characterized the song as a "wackily irreverent novelty hit". In July 2017, footage of a performance of the song by the 75-member Baylor University School of Music Men's Choir from the United States in an Emirates (airline), Emirates Airlines plane cabin before passengers and flight crew was posted online and became popular. Smokey Mountain was a Filipino singing group formed by musical director, composer, and National Artist for Music Maestro Ryan Cayabyab and executive producer Judd Berlin. The original group was based in Manila, Philippines, and had James Coronel, Geneva Cruz, Jeffrey Hidalgo, and Tony Lambino as its original members while Jayson Angangan, Chedi Vergara, and Zhar Santos joined James Coronel for the second lineup after Geneva Cruz, Jeffrey Hidalgo, and Tony Lambino left the group.
