Da'shawn Thomas (August 31, 1987, in Newport, Arkansas) is a Canadian football running back from the U.S. who plays for the Western Ontario Mustangs. He was signed as a street free agent by the Georgia Generals in 2007. Professional career Toronto Argonauts Thomas was signed as a free agent by the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League on February 29, 2008, and placed on the practice roster for the 2008 Toronto Argonauts season. He re-signed with the Argos on January 19, 2009, but was released at the end of training camp. College career In an unusual move, Thomas, who had never attended university and only a few days of a junior college in Kansas, registered with the University of Western Ontario and will play for the Western Ontario Mustangs in the 2009 CIS football season. A running back (RB) is a member of the offensive backfield in gridiron football. Practice Roster
In sports, the practice squad, also called the taxi squad or practice roster, is a group of players signed by a team but not part of their main roster. Frequently used in gridiron football, they serve as extra players during the team's practices, often as part of the scout team by emulating an upcoming opponent's play style. Because the players on the practice squad are familiar with the team's plays and formations, the practice squad serves as a way to develop inexperienced players for promotion to the main roster. This is particularly important for professional gridiron football teams, which do not have formal minor league farm team affiliates to train players. Greg Marshall (running Back)
Greg Marshall (born April 19, 1959) is a former Canadian football running back and current head coach for the University of Western Ontario's football team, the Western Mustangs. Marshall was the head coach with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League from to . Prior to his time with the Tiger-Cats, Marshall was the head coach of McMaster University's football team. He is the brother of Blake Marshall. Playing career Marshall had a successful collegiate career at the University of Western Ontario, and as a running back won the 1980 Hec Crighton Trophy as Canada's best collegiate player. Following his time in university, Marshall moved to the Canadian Football League's Edmonton Eskimos. Rich Stubler
Richard Stubler (August 4, 1949 – August 27, 2023) was an American football coach, primarily in the Canadian Football League (CFL). He was most recently an assistant coach for the Toronto Argonauts. He is a five-time Grey Cup champion, all as a defensive coordinator, and was formerly the head coach of the Argonauts. He has been coaching since the 1970s and has coached at the high school level, NCAA, Arena Football League and the CFL. Coaching career Early years Stubler was born in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. After graduating from the University of Northern Colorado, Stubler began his coaching career in 1971 at Roaring Fork High School in Carbondale, Colorado. Tyler Scott (born September 21, 1985 in Windsor, Ontario) is a Canadian former wide receiver. He previously played in the Canadian Football League where he last played for the Edmonton Eskimos. He attended the University of Western Ontario as a geography major with an intention to pursue teaching. He was drafted in the 2008 CFL Draft by the Toronto Argonauts. The 2009 NFL Draft was the seventy-fourth annual meeting of National Football League (NFL) franchises to select newly eligible football players. The draft took place at Radio City Music Hall in New York City, New York, on April 25 and 26, 2009. The draft consisted of two rounds on the first day, starting at 4:00 pm EDT, and five rounds on the second day, starting at 10:00 am EDT. To compensate for the time change from the previous year and in an effort to help shorten the draft, teams were no longer on the clock for 15 minutes in the first round and 10 minutes in the second round. Vaughn Martin (born April 18, 1986) is a Jamaican-born Canadian former American football defensive tackle. He was most recently a member of the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He was drafted by the San Diego Chargers in the fourth round of the 2009 NFL Draft, the first Canadian university football player drafted by an NFL team as an underclassman.
