DJ Polo
The Juice Crew was an American hip hop collective made up largely of Queensbridge, New York-based artists in the mid-to-late 1980s. Founded by radio DJ Mr. Magic, and housed by Tyrone Williams' record label Cold Chillin' Records, the Juice Crew helped introduce New School artists MC Shan, Big Daddy Kane, Biz Markie, Roxanne Shante, Masta Ace, Tragedy, Craig G and Kool G Rap. The crew produced many answer records and engaged with numerous " beefs" – primarily with rival radio jock Kool DJ Red Alert and the South Bronx's Boogie Down Productions, as well as the " posse cut", " The Symphony". UTFO (an abbreviation for Untouchable Force Organization) was an American old-school hip hop group from Brooklyn, New York City. The group consisted of Kangol Kid (born Shaun Shiller Fequiere; August 10, 1966 – December 18, 2021), Educated Rapper (born Jeffrey Campbell; July 4, 1963 – June 3, 2017), Doctor Ice (born Fred Reeves on March 2, 1966), and Mix Master Ice (born Maurice Bailey on April 22, 1965). Crystal Smith, better known by her stage name Dimples D., is an American rapper who became a one-hit wonder in 1990. Sucker DJ Dimples D. was selected as the vocalist for a track by hip hop producer Marley Marl entitled " Sucker DJ's (I Will Survive)", released on Party Time Records in 1983. "Sucker D.J.'s" was written by Crystal Smith / Williams / Kaye / Montenegro. The song—an answer song to Run–D.M.C.'s " Sucker M.C.s (Krush-Groove 1)"—did not sell in quantity upon its first release, but Ben Liebrand reworked the song in 1990, including a sample of the theme song from the American sitcom '' I Dream of Jeannie''. "Sucker DJ" (also known as "Sucker DJ's (I Will Survive)", or "Sucker DJ (A Witch for Love)") is a song by American rapper Dimples D. It was written by Buddy Kaye, Crystal Smith, Hugo Montenegro and Marlon Williams and originally released in 1983 by Party Time Records, without any success in the charts. In 1990, Dutch DJ and producer Ben Liebrand remixed the song, including a sample of the theme tune of American sitcom ''I Dream of Jeannie'', written by Montenegro and Kaye. After its re-release, the song became a hit in Europe, where it reached the top 10 in the Netherlands and number 17 in the United Kingdom.
