DHC Cup Girls Bowling International
The DHC Cup Girls Bowling International is an annual ten-pin bowling event for professional and amateur female bowlers, held in Japan, and is sanctioned by the Japan Bowling Congress (JBC). Offering an award purse of JPY¥12.0 million (approx. US$128,000), it is currently the third-biggest tournament for females in the world in terms of money, just behind the U.S. Women's Open and the USBC Queens. The DHC Cup Girls Bowling International made its debut in 2007. Bowlers from all over the world are invited to compete, although the majority of bowlers competing are from the JBC, the Japan Professional Bowling Association (JPBA), and DHC's own team of bowlers from the DHC Ladies Bowling Tour. Ten-pin Bowling
Ten-pin bowling is a type of bowling in which a bowler rolls a bowling ball down a wood or synthetic lane toward ten pins positioned evenly in four rows in an equilateral triangle. The objective is to knock down all ten pins on the first roll of the ball (a strike), or failing that, on the second roll (a spare). An approximately long ''approach'' area used by the bowler to impart speed and apply rotation to the ball ends in a ''foul line''. The , lane is bordered along its length by ''gutters'' (''channels'') that collect errant balls. The lane's long and narrow shape limits straight-line ball paths to angles that are smaller than optimum angles for achieving strikes; accordingly, bowlers impart side rotation to ''hook'' (curve) the ball into the pins to increase the likelihood of striking. Kelly Kulick
Kelly Kulick (born March 16, 1977) is an American professional bowler and sportscaster. She has won ten professional women's bowling titles (six of them majors), one PBA Tour title (a major) and a professional mixed doubles title. Kulick is the first woman ever to win a regular Professional Bowlers Association tour title and the only woman to win a major PBA Tour tournament. She is a 14-time member of Team USA (1998–2001, 2008, 2010–2018). Kulick is currently a pro staff member for Storm Bowling, Vise grips and High 5 gear.
