D.M.Z. (Resurrection Band Album)
''D.M.Z.'' is the fifth full-length album by American Christian rock band Resurrection Band, released in 1982. It was the band's final release for Light Records. Recording history The album begins with one of Resurrection Band's most popular songs, "Military Man", ''D.M.Z.'' is a split personality, featuring either hard rock akin to Van Halen, or new wave-influenced mid-tempo numbers. However, long-time Resurrection Band fans consider Stu Heiss' opening 90-second feedback-drenched guitar solo to "White Noise" as one of the best moments in the band's history, and this song proved to be just as popular live. Lyrically, the album focuses on individual stories of emotional disconnection and spiritual confusion, offering the Savior as the answer to both. Resurrection Band
Resurrection Band, also known as Rez Band or REZ, was a Christian rock band formed in 1972. They were part of the Jesus People USA Christian community in Chicago and most of its members have continued in that community to this day. Known for their blend of blues-rock and hard rock, Resurrection Band is credited as one of the forerunners of the Christian metal genre. ''Christianity Today'' called them "the most influential band in Christian music history." Following their debut in 1978, the band's greatest popularity was during the early 1980s, but later in the decade they received some crossover success when they had two music videos featured on MTV. Light Records
Light Records is a gospel record label founded in 1966 by Ralph Carmichael, as a joint venture with the Waco, Texas-based Word Records. It is a subsidiary of the MNRK Music Group. History Light Records' first roster included Ralph Carmichael, the Carmichael Young People, Ralph Carmichael's 102 Strings recordings, and Ralph's daughter Kim (Carol) Carmichael. Other artists included Jimmy Durante and Thurl Ravenscroft (the voice of Tony the Tiger in cereal commercials). ''Mommy Don't Love Daddy Anymore'' is the fourth album by American Christian rock band Resurrection Band, released in 1981. Recording history Resurrection Band's move toward a more pop-influenced hard rock sound is solidified on this release, which in many ways is a continuation of the lyrical themes and musical sounds first expressed on ''Colours''. A small hint of the band's future incorporation of new wave keyboard stylings can also be heard on the closing track, "Lovin' You." Once again, social issues (" Elevator Muzik" humorously trashes American materialism, "The Chair" addresses the plight of paraplegics, and the title track deals with the destructive effects of divorce on children), spiritual struggles ("The Crossing," "Alienated" and "Can't Do It on My Own") and evangelistic challenges to the listener ("First Degree Apathy" and "Stark/Spare") dominate the songs on the record. ''Live Bootleg'' is the first live album by American Christian rock band Resurrection Band, released in 1984. It was the band's first release for Sparrow Records, and also their first under the shortened moniker "Rez Band." ''Live Bootleg'' was the group's biggest selling album. Recording history Recorded at the Odeum Arena in Chicago over two nights, October 21 and 22, 1983, this album features a mixture of the band's most popular live tracks as well as two new songs: "Gameroom" and "Playground". The album also features the only time a song from one of the band's independent cassettes was ever re-recorded for one of their official releases ("Quite Enough"). "Gameroom" continues the trend begun on '' D.M.Z.'' of directly addressing the concerns of a high school aged audience, and the album closes with an evangelistic message from Glenn Kaiser, which was typical of the band's live performances. Van Halen ( ) was an American rock band formed in Pasadena, California, in 1972. Credited with "restoring hard rock to the forefront of the music scene", Van Halen was known for its energetic live shows and for the virtuosity of its lead guitarist, Eddie Van Halen. Retroactive Records is an independent record label in Keokuk, Iowa. The label was founded in 2002 by Matt Hunt, who had previously operated a small label called Magdalene Records.
