Enrico D'Ovidio
Enrico D'Ovidio (1842-1933) was an Italian mathematician who is known by his works on geometry. Life and work D'Ovidio, son of a liberal parents involved in the Italian independence movement, studied at the university of Naples under his uncle, Achille Sannia, who prepared him to enter in the School of Bridges and Roads. In 1869, he published with Sannia a very successful textbook to teach geometry in the schools. Encouraged by Eugenio Beltrami, he obtained the chair on Algebra and Analytic Geometry at the university of Turin in 1872, and he remained there for the remaining 46 years of his life. He was also rector of the university from 1880 to 1885. The research of D'Ovidio was mainly in geometry and the most important works were produced when he was in Turin. Antonio Lefebvre D'Ovidio
Antonio Lefebvre d'Ovidio (1913 – 5 February 2011) was an Italian lawyer and businessman, and the founder of Silversea Cruises. He was born in Naples in 1913. Lefebvre worked as a maritime lawyer and taught maritime and commercial law at the Bari University until he became a professor at Bari, Naples and Rome Universities in 1938. Lefebvre began buying cargo ships and ferries in the Adriatic. He went on to own Sitmar Cruises, which was merged with Princess Cruises in 1988 to form Silversea Cruises. He died on 5 February 2011. His son, Manfredi Lefebvre d'Ovidio, became the chairman and owner of Silversea. Lockheed scandal Lefebvre was convicted in 1979 for corruption connected to $1.6 million in bribes Lockheed paid in connection with the Italian Air Force's 1970 purchase of 14 military transport aircraft. Manfredi Lefebvre d'Ovidio (born 30 April 1953) is an Italian-born Monegasque billionaire businessman. He is the chairman and former owner of Silversea Cruises, a company founded by his father. In June 2018, he sold two-thirds of the company to Royal Caribbean for US$1 billion, retaining a one-third stake in the company. As of August 2022, his net worth was estimated at US$1.3 billion.
