D. J. Thompson
D.J. Thompson (born May 2, 1985) is an American professional basketball player. He is 1.74 m (5 ft 8 ½ in) in height and he plays the point guard position. He last played for Best Balıkesir B.K., Best Balıkesir of the Turkish Basketball Second League. Amateur career Thompson played his high school basketball in Raleigh, North Carolina at Leesville Road High School and he played collegiality at Appalachian State University, where he had career averages of 13.0 points per game, 4.1 assists per game and 2.8 rebounds per game. In his senior year of college, he averaged 15.6 points per game, 4.9 assists per game and 3.3 rebounds per game. He led the Mountaineers to a 25-8 record, to the Southern Conference North Division title, and to a National Invitation Tournament (NIT) bid. Point Guard
The point guard (PG), also called the one or the point, is one of the five Basketball positions, positions in a regulation basketball game. A point guard has perhaps the most specialized role of any position. Point guards are expected to run the team's offense by controlling the ball and making sure that it gets to the right player at the right time. Above all, the point guard must understand and accept their coach's game plan; in this way, the position can be compared to a quarterback in American football. They must also be able to adapt to what the defense is allowing and must control the pace of the game. A point guard specializes in certain skills, like other player positions in basketball. National Invitation Tournament
The National Invitational Tournament (NIT) is a men's college basketball tournament operated by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Played at regional sites and traditionally at Madison Square Garden (Final Four) in New York City each March and April, it was founded in 1938 and was originally the most prestigious post-season showcase for college basketball. The 2021 tournament, in which all games were played in Denton and Frisco, Texas, marked the first time that the NIT's semifinals and championship games were not hosted at Madison Square Garden; MSG won't play host to the games entirely starting in 2023. Over time, it became eclipsed by the NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament, which is now known informally as "March Madness." Vanderbilt Commodores Men's Basketball
The Vanderbilt Commodores men's basketball team represents Vanderbilt University in the Southeastern Conference (SEC). The Commodores have won three SEC regular-season titles (1965, 1974 and 1993) and two SEC Tournament championships ( 1951 and 2012). Virginia Commonwealth University Rams Men's Basketball
The VCU Rams men's basketball team is the intercollegiate men's basketball team that represents Virginia Commonwealth University. The Rams joined the Atlantic 10 Conference in the 2012–13 season after previously competing in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA). In 2017, VCU was ranked the 40th most valuable men's basketball program in the country by ''The Wall Street Journal''.
