D.A.V College
Government College, Koraput is a State Government-run degree college affiliated to Vikram dev University. It is situated in Landiguda, Koraput, Odisha state of India. It offers graduate courses in Arts, Commerce and Science stream. It also offers Master courses for Arts stream in two subjects that is Oriya and Education. The College was established in 1968 by the Dayanand Anglo-Vedic College Management Committee in collaboration with the Education Development Society of Koraput. It was taken over by the Government of Orissa in 1982, expanded to offer bachelor's and master's degrees. Govt of Odisha, Department of Higher education on 6-12-2012 notified in an extra ordinary Gazette Publication issue that the DAV college is renamed as "Government college, Koraput (with effect from 10-07-1982 ). Koraput
Koraput is a town and a Municipality in Koraput district in the Indian state of Odisha. Koraput town is the district headquarter of Koraput district. History The district of Koraput derives its name from its headquarters the present town of Koraput. In ancient times when the Nalas were ruling over this tract, Pushkari near modern Umarkot was the capital city. In the medieval period Nandapur developed as a little kingdom under the Silavamsi kings that was later expanded by the Suryavanshi kings who arrived in the region in 13th century from Kashmir. Later, Maharajah Veer Vikram Dev of shifted his capital to Jeypore and about the middle of the 17th century this town prospered under the British Administration. Vikram Deb Autonomous College
Vikram Deb Autonomous College (Formerly 'Jeypore College') is an autonomous college of Berhampur University in India, located in the city of Jeypore, Koraput district in Odisha, that offers courses primarily at the higher secondary, undergraduate and postgraduate levels. It was established in 1947 by Maharaja of Jeypore Sri Vikram Dev IV or Vikram Deo Verma and has been named in his respect. Jeypore
Jeypore is one of the largest towns and a place of historical significance in Koraput district in the Indian state of Odisha. It was established by Vir Vikram Dev in the mid 17th century. The kingdom was defeated by the East India Company in 1777 who declared it a Zamindari or Feudatory of the British Crown and much later got acknowledged as a Princely state until its dissolution in the Dominion of India in 1947. Koraput is a district of India in southern Odisha, with headquarters at Koraput.
