D.A.R. State Park is a 95-acre state park in Addison, Vermont, on the shore of Lake Champlain. Activities includes camping, swimming, boating, fishing, picnicking, wildlife watching, and winter sports. Camping facilities include 47 tent/trailer sites and 24 lean-tos, flush toilets, hot showers, and a dump station. Other facilities include a small picnic area located on a bluff above the lake, a stone pavilion for group gatherings, a volleyball area, swings, and shore access. Addison is a town in Addison County, Vermont, Addison County, Vermont, United States. It was founded October 14, 1761. The population was 1,365 at the 2020 United States Census, 2020 census. History Addison was chartered on October 14, 1761. Benning Wentworth named the town Addison after poet Joseph Addison. Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 49.0 square miles (126.8 km), of which 41.7 square miles (108.1 km) is land and 7.2 square miles (18.8 km) (14.81%) is water. The Dead Creek and the Hospital Creek run through Addison, and Lake Champlain is on the west border of Addison. Vermont Route 17
Vermont Route 17 (VT 17) is a state highway in western Vermont in the United States. The western terminus of the route is at the New York state line in Addison, where it connects to New York State Route 185 (NY 185) by way of the Lake Champlain Bridge. Its eastern terminus is at a junction with VT 100 in Waitsfield. VT 17 was initially much shorter than it is today, extending from the Champlain Bridge to Addison upon assignment. It was extended east through the Green Mountains to Waitsfield in 1965. Route description The routing of VT 17 varies greatly on opposite sides of the Bristol town center. West of Bristol, the route passes through generally level terrain and connects multiple communities. East of Bristol, VT 17 is more mountainous and more rural in nature.
