D12 (an initialism for The Dirty Dozen) was an American hip hop collective from Detroit, Michigan. Formed in 1996, the group achieved mainstream success with its lineup of ''de facto'' leader Eminem, Proof, Bizarre, Mr. Porter, Kuniva and Swifty McVay. D12 had chart-topping albums in the United States, United Kingdom, and Australia during the early 2000s. The group released the albums ''Devil's Night'' in 2001 and '' D12 World'' in 2004, spawning numerous hits such as "Fight Music", "Purple Pills", " My Band", " How Come" and " Shit on You" throughout that period. Both albums were certified double platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). In 2004, the group won the MTV Europe Music Award for Best Hip-Hop Act. Shit On You
"Shit on You" also known by the clean versions as either "Sh*t on You" or "S*** on You", is a single by American rap group D12. It was their commercial debut single, released on December 5, 2000. It achieved moderate success by reaching the top 10 of the UK Singles Chart. It was not included on the American vinyl, CD, digital, or streaming editions of their 2001 debut studio album ''Devil's Night'', but was included as a bonus track on the cassette version, UK, European, and Australian releases, and on the deluxe version of Eminem's greatest hits album, '' Curtain Call: The Hits''. Background The song features references to John Candy, JonBenét Ramsey, Richard Pryor, Steve Stoute, Deebo and Peabo Bryson. Eminem's line referring to the band as "five more zany-actin' maniacs in action" hearkens back to his first album ''Infinite''. D12 World
''D12 World'' is the second and final studio album by Detroit hip hop group D12, released on April 27, 2004. The album sold 544,000 copies in its first week on the U.S. Billboard 200. The album is also the last D12 release to feature Proof before his death in 2006, and the second D12 album to feature Bugz on a track. Background In memory of Bugz, who was killed prior to a concert on May 21, 1999, the group recorded the track "Good Die Young" in memory of him. The album also includes a skit entitled "Bugz '97", which is a 1997 recording of Bugz, originally taken from the song "Desperados". The group was often overshadowed by Eminem's massive success, and as such, the group toured without him for promotion of the album (but the album still reached the top of the US Billboard chart). ''Attack of the Weirdos'' is the debut extended play by Detroit rapper and D12 member Bizarre. It was released on September 1, 1998 via Federation Records. Audio production of the seven track album was handled by local Detroit deejays and producers such as DJ Head, who was D12's deejay at the time, Mad Chemist, Hush of Da Ruckus, and the now acclaimed producers J Dilla of Slum Village and Mr. Porter.
