Cătălina Ponor
Cătălina Ponor (; born 20 August 1987) is a Romanian former artistic gymnast who competed at three Olympiads: 2004, 2012, and 2016. She won three gold medals at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens on balance beam, floor and as part of the Romanian team. She also earned a silver medal on floor and bronze medal as part of the Romanian team at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, as well as multiple World Championship and European Championship medals. She announced her plans to retire from gymnastics after the 2017 Artistic Gymnastics World Championships, in Montreal. During her career, she won 23 Olympic, World and European medals. More than half of them (12) were gold medals. She was inducted into the International Gymnastics Hall of Fame in 2022. World Artistic Gymnastics Championships
The Artistic Gymnastics World Championships are the world championships for artistic gymnastics governed by the Fédération Internationale de Gymnastique (FIG). The first edition of the championships was held in 1903, exclusively for male gymnasts. Since the tenth edition of the tournament, in 1934, women's events are held together with men's events. The FIG was founded in 1881 and was originally entitled FEG (Fédération Européenne de Gymnastique), but changed its name in 1921, becoming the Fédération Internationale de Gymnastique (FIG); this name change roughly correlates with the actual naming of the World Championships. The 37th World Artistic Gymnastics Championships were held in Anaheim, California, United States, from 16 to 24 August 2003. Tie-breakers were not used at this competition. If two gymnasts received identical scores in the event finals, they were both awarded medals for their placement. Gymnastics At The 2012 Summer Olympics – Women's Artistic Team All-around
The final of the women's artistic team all-around competition at the 2012 Summer Olympics was held at the North Greenwich Arena in London on 31 July 2012. Eight teams qualified for the final, from a total of twelve that competed in the qualifications round. Each team was composed of five gymnasts. In the final, each team selected three gymnasts to compete on each apparatus. All three scores on each apparatus were summed to give a final team score. The United States team, known as the Fierce Five, finished first in qualifications and won the gold medal in the final. Russia won the silver, and Romania won the bronze. It was Romania's 10th consecutive Olympic medal in the event, a streak that started in 1976.
