The Czech Olympic Committee ( cs, Český olympijský výbor) is the National Olympic Committee (NOC) representing the Czech Republic. History The Czech Olympic Committee is one of the oldest NOCs in the world, having been founded in 1899 as Bohemian Committee for the Olympic Games ( cs, Český výbor pro hry olympijské). Jiří Hrdina
Jiří Hrdina (born January 5, 1958) is a Czech former professional ice hockey player. He spent 10 seasons in the Czechoslovak First League with Sparta ČKD Praha and HK Dukla Trenčín and five in the National Hockey League (NHL) with the Calgary Flames and Pittsburgh Penguins. Of his four full NHL seasons, Hrdina is a three-time Stanley Cup champion, playing on NHL championship teams in 1989, 1991 and 1992. Internationally, Hrdina was a member of the Czechoslovakian national team between 1977 and 1990. He appeared in two Canada Cups, and played in six World Championships. He was a member of five World Championship medal-winning teams, including a gold medal at the 1985 tournament. He is a two-time Olympian and won a silver medal with the Czechoslovak team at the 1984 Games in Sarajevo. Vladimír Růžička
Vladimír Růžička (; born 6 June 1963) is a Czech ice hockey coach and former professional player. Růžička was twice named the top player in the Czechoslovak Elite League, and was on the gold medal team in the Ice Hockey World Championship in 1985 and 1998 Olympic Games. He also played 233 games in the National Hockey League (NHL). Since 2008, Růžička has been the head coach of both HC Slavia Praha and the Czech national ice hockey team. Playing career Růžička started his career with Czechoslovak side Litvínov, making his first appearance at the age of 16 and scoring after just 10 seconds in his first game, against Dukla Jihlava. Růžička was selected by the Toronto Maple Leafs 73rd overall in the 1982 NHL Entry Draft. Despite this, he was barred from leaving Czechoslovakia by the Communist authorities. Dušan Pašek
Dušan Pašek (7 September 1960 – 15 March 1998) was a Czechoslovak and Slovak professional ice hockey forward who played 48 games in the National Hockey League with the Minnesota North Stars. The rest of his career, which lasted from 1977 to 1993, was mainly spent with Slovan Bratislava in the Czechoslovak Extraliga. Vincent Lukáč (born 14 February 1954 in Košice) is a former professional Slovaks, Slovak ice hockey player, coach and politician. He was a player of HC Košice (''the most successful player in history of the team'' - 14 seasons, 518 games, 393 goals), HC Dukla Jihlava, SC Rosenheim, WEV Wien, Fife Flyers of Scotland (alongside compatriots and ) and Streatham Redskins in London. Igor Liba (born November 4, 1960, in Prešov, Czechoslovakia) is a Slovak former professional ice hockey player, who played on the 1992 Bronze Medal-winning Olympic Hockey team for Czechoslovakia, and lives in Košice, Slovakia. Igor Liba was inducted into the Slovak Hockey Hall of Fame in 2005. Jiří Lála
Jiří Lála (born August 21, 1959 in Tábor, Czechoslovakia) is a retired professional ice hockey player who played in the Czechoslovak Extraliga. He played for HC Jihlava. He was a member of the Czechoslovak 1981 Canada Cup team and was a silver medallist at the 1984 Winter Olympics. He was named the best forward at the 1983 World Championships and was the top scorer on the Czechoslovak team that won the world championship in 1985, with 13 points (8+5) in 10 games. After 510 games and 297 goals in Czechoslovakia, he moved to West Germany in 1989. He immediately became the top scorer for his home team Eintracht Frankfurt in the 1989/90 and 1990/91 seasons. After heavy mismanagement and near bankruptcy of Eintracht Frankfurt, he played for Mannheimer ERC for two seasons, until he returned to Frankfurt in the 1994/95 season to play in the newly formed Frankfurt Lions team.
