The 20th annual Berlin International Film Festival was supposed to be held from 26 June to 7 July 1970. The festival opened with ''Klann – grand guignol'' by Patrick Ledoux. Radoslav Brzobohatý
Radoslav Brzobohatý (; 13 September 1932 – 12 September 2012) was a Czech film and television actor. Brzobohatý was born in Vrútky, Czechoslovakia. He appeared in many Czech TV shows, including '' 30 Cases of Major Zeman'', ''Ulice'' and the film '' Sněženky a machři''. He was the father of actor and television personality Ondřej Brzobohatý, the host of '' Česko hledá SuperStar'', the Czech version of the Idol series. Brzobohatý died in Prague, Czech Republic in September 2012 at the age of 79. He is buried at the Vyšehrad Cemetery in Prague. Karel Kachyňa
Karel Kachyňa (1 May 1924 – 12 March 2004) was a Czech film director and screenwriter. His career spanned over five decades. Early life He was born on May 1, 1920, in Vyškov, Czechoslovakia. His father was a government officer. His mother was an art teacher. After spending first 4 years of his life in Vyškov, he moved with his family to Dačice and then Kroměříž. Kachyňa studied at Baťa School of Art in Zlín. During the WWII he was forced to work in a German factory Walter Georgi in Bernsbach. After the war he was able to finish high school and work on commercials at the Baťa film studios in Zlín. Kachyňa was then accepted at newly founded Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (FAMU) to study cinematography and directing. Albert Samuel Waxman, (March 2, 1935 – January 18, 2001) was a Canadian actor and director of over 1,000 productions on radio, television, film, and stage. The 23rd Cannes Film Festival ran from 3 to 18 May 1970. This year, Robert Favre LeBret, the founder of the festival, decided not to include any films from Russia and Japan (their flags were missing on the Croisette). He was tired of the "Slavic spectacles and Japanese samurai flicks.". The Russians took back their juror Sergei Obraztsov (head of Moscow puppet theater) and left the jury panel with only eight members.
