Czech Republic In The Eurovision Song Contest 2022
The Czech Republic participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in Turin, Italy, with the song "Lights Off" performed by the band We Are Domi. The Czech broadcaster Česká televize (ČT) organised the national final ''ESCZ 2022'' in order to select the Czech entry for the 2022 contest. Seven entries competed in the national final and "Lights Off" performed by We Are Domi was announced as the winner on 16 December 2021 following the combination of votes from a twelve-member international jury panel, an international public vote and a Czech public vote. Czech Republic was drawn to compete in the second semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest which took place on 12 May 2022. Performing as the closing entry during the show in position 18, "Lights Off" was announced among the top 10 entries of the second semi-final and therefore qualified to compete in the final on 14 May. We Are Domi
We Are Domi, formerly known as Domi (stylised in all caps), is a Czech-Norwegian electropop band formed in Leeds, United Kingdom in 2016. The band consists of lead vocalist Dominika Hašková, guitarist Casper Hatlestad, and keyboardist Benjamin Rekstad. The three met during their studies at the Leeds College of Music. Daði Freyr Pétursson (; born 30 June 1992), known professionally as Daði Freyr or simply Daði, is an Icelandic musician living in Berlin, Germany. As the frontman of Daði & Gagnamagnið ( ), he was due to represent Iceland in the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 with the song "Think About Things", before the event was cancelled in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Taťána Kuchařová
Taťána Kuchařová (; born 23 December 1987) is a Czech dancer, model and beauty queen who won the title of Miss Czech Republic and Miss World 2006. In doing so, she made history to become the first woman from the Czech Republic ever to win the title at the final event of the Miss World competition, held on 30 September 2006, in Warsaw, Poland. ČT2 (ČT Dva, Česká televize 2, "''Dvojka''") is Czech public television channel, operated by Česká televize. ČT2 broadcasts documentaries nature-oriented shows, frequently showing foreign films in the original versions with Czech subtitles, including many English-language movies and features some of the important sports events (i.e. Olympic Games, FIFA World Cup or UEFA European Football Championship). Charlie McGettigan
Charles Joseph McGettigan (born 7 December 1950, Ballyshannon, County Donegal) is an Irish singer. He lives in Drumshanbo, Co. Leitrim. Career Performing with Paul Harrington, he won the Eurovision Song Contest 1994 with the song "Rock 'n' Roll Kids" (words and music by Brendan Graham). Harrington played piano and McGettigan played guitar. He made an appearance as a guest singer at Congratulations, the 50th anniversary concert of Eurovision. Paul Harrington (born 13 May 1960) is an Irish musician, who, with Charlie McGettigan, won the Eurovision Song Contest for Ireland in 1994. Career Music Harrington was born in Dublin, Republic of Ireland.He attended O'Connells secondary School, North Circular Road Dublin.
